Answers:
How about Veggie Sloppy Joes, a big platter of cut up veggies and corn chips with dip and some homemade sugar cookies? The kids could decorate heir own dessert and have fun, in addition to eating well.
I know your DDs birthday will be a hit.
Good luck.

Single Mom and Vegetarian

top ramen..... 10 cents a package.

Starters: Light soup bought from a ready maker soup packet which sometimes tastes good if made with cauliflower also.

Main course : A Pasta with tomatoe, potatoe, vegetables, olives and basil

Sided with seasoning or sauce

dessert: a nice fruit salad with milk, apple, orange, banana and if you can manage to get ice cream

Get a bunch of fresh veggies from the grocercy store and chop them up and put them in a bowl along side some dip. Also, get some various breads, cut them up and put them alongside some fruit spread or hummus. Get one of your pitchers out and fill it with ice water and grab some store brand soda.

I once did a whole veggie dinner party on $20 - I bought 2 packages of wrap bread and tortillas, choped up a bunch of yummy veggies, got preshreded chesse, a bottle of salsa., and a bottle of black bean spread and a package of veggie burgers (which I heated them in the microwave and then chopped up to look like meat). Then I had my guests make their own soft veggie tacos. It was a huge hit!!!!!! The cost of it was:

$3- (apx. 30 of them) Wraps
$8- veggies
$2- salsa
$2-black bean spread
$2- cheese
$3- veggie burgers

For desert get a mix to make cupcakes or a basic cake, which shouldnt be that much.

Vegetarian lasagna or Baked Ziti, rolls, a big salad

I think those big frozen lasagnas are really good and feed a lot of people. If there will be other, older people there humus and pita are fun. You can make your own humas if you are good at preparing things. People always love deviled eggs as well. And that is cheap. Buy some fun candy that is a little exotic like PopRocks. Kids love those. Hope I helped you out.

Most kids love pizza so how about the pizza mix you buy in store..chefboyrdee pizza mix add pepperoni..cake and ice cream...or burgers and chips with dip? include a basic salad?

my daughter loves when I make sandwiches using the tiny party bread (available in most grocery stores, where the regular breads are, or in the deli-you might have to ask) They are like 2 inch squares of bread. I make cucumber and pimento cheese sandwiches. They come in white and brown (pumpernickle) You could also do some easy fruit skewers (inexpensive wooden picks) with a yogurt dip. Fresh fruit is best, but canned would be okay. I stick the threaded picks in an orange for serving. A rice stir fry would be inexpensive and easy, as would mac and cheese. Fondue (spagetti or alfredo sauce) with a variety of dunkers (steamed potato, brocolli, garlic bread, etc) is nice. You can rarely go wrong with chips and salsa or veggies with a nice dip. Happy birthday to your daughter (mine is 12 too-cool age, I am a single mom too) Have fun with your spread. Email if I can help
