Im becoming a vegeterian!!?

ive decided to become a vegetarian, not because i want to lose weight or anything, but im just not very fond of meat, especially red meat, it just makes me feel really heavy and sluggish afterwards, but i love chicken so thats gonna be hard. my question is, i wanna do this the right way and cut off meat completley, but i wanna continue eating fish. I LOVE SUSHI. so what are good dinner and lunch ideas for my new diet? im getting kinda sick of pasta and mashed potatoes for dinner and tuna salads for lunch. i need a change and i refuse to give in to the meat!

And sorry, but vegetarians do not eat the fishies because vegetarians do not eat animals. No such thing as an animal-eating vegetarian because each negates the other.

But I believe you can do it.

Many people recommend dropping dead animals from your diet in phases... perhaps fish could be your final accomplishment in that area. Others recommend going "cold tofu" and stopping everything at once. Do what you feel most comfortable doing.

What you could do is become a vegetarian, but not really. Dump the red meat but keep the chicken! EASY as that. You can still be a vegetarian but you can still eat chicken. There's no rules in that! I'm like you, I don't like red meat but I love chicken. You can still eat fish, too. Fish isn't really meat, i guess.

Just eat what you used to do, BUT minus the food you dislike.

You can eat chicken and fish, but then you wouldnt be a vegetarian. You would be a polo pescetarian. Which is good. I've been a polo pescetarian for 3 years now, never felt better!! Just remember to include lots of vegetables, and legumes in your diet, so that your Iron levels dont drop.


I hate red meat too, ewwww.

Buy some Quorn mince and flavour it up with tomatoes onions and garlic...then you can have bolognaise, or use it for curry, make vegetable curry, egg curry, potato curry, You can buy 'pretend' bacon (UK here), and pretend chicken and ham sandwich slices.

How about cauliflower cheese with cherry tomatoes in it and a layer of cheese on top grilled. Mmmm.

You can make toad in the hole with vegetarian sausages. You can also buy vegetarian gravy which is really good.

Shepherd pie with Quorn mince.

There are so many replacement foods on offer these days. I find that Tesco does the widest selection and Mark and Spencer has some really tasty offerings too!

Stuffed peppers, use rice as the base of the stuffing and add anything else you like, bake the peppers in the oven for ten minutes first then stuff them and bake for further 10 mins.

I agree with the other people who say just give up the red meat. It's a lot easier to fulfill your nutritional needs if you keep some meat (chicken and fish) in your diet.

But, vegetarian cooking is delicious and nutritious. My friend gave me a bunch of old Vegetarian Times magazines, and they had great ideas for turning vegetarian. Not to mention wonderful recipes. And my favorite cookbooks are the Molly Katzen cookbooks (Moosewood Cookbook and The Enchanted Broccoli Forest). They are a little time consuming, but really good food!

Maybe you could be a vegetarian on the weekend, or four days a week. Anyway, it's really worthwhile for your health to experiment with the vegetarian lifestyle. Just find some good cookbooks, and cook away!

I didn't know Fish was a vegetable, sorry but in my opinon you're not a full vegetarian unless you give up fish too. But that's you're opinon anyway some good stuff to try is on this website and if you live in the US then it'll be in you're local supermarket.

If you want to keep eating fish that's fine; just DO NOT call yourself a vegetarian!

If you abuse the term vegetarian you will not only be a LIAR, you will find yourself collecting not only the scorn of all the omnivorous types but you are going to have to take quite a lot of flak from vegetarians that are sick and tired of dealing with the LIE that vegetarians eat fish!

You will find the correct term for your diet below.

pan roasted salmon with avocado and tomato salad.
fry salmon on high heat, skin side down for about 5 minutes, turn over and transfer to a medium oven for 10-15 mins

well if you like sushi you should make sushi at home. Its not hard all u need is a rolling mat, a couple sharp knives, seaweed paper, sushi rice, half a pound of salmon or shrimp, avacado, cucumbers, and maybe some mayo. Watch videos on how to make it on youtube. Its not that hard to do and i can guide you through it if u want.

I stopped eating the red meats and poultry because of health reasons, so I can appreciate your dilema.
I know that I'm not a vegitarian, because of eating seafood. Just be aware that most people will see you as a vegitarian, except the vegitarians, who will know differently.

Anyhow, the answer to your question is these companies:
Boca, Morningstar Farms, Quorn... and a few others. At your local grocery store, you get the vegitarian hot dogs, the chicken patties, the hamburgers... and there are vegitarian options everywhere, even your local chinese food restraunt.

Well..if you eat fish, you wont be a vegetarian. Sushi does not mean fish, it actually refers to the rice and there are sushi rolls made without fish.

Congrats on your changes-but don't call yourself a vegetarian if you eat fish-you will be pescatarian. Its perfectly fine for you to eat whatever suits you....you don't need to fit into some neat little box with a label, but don't refer to yourself as something you are not. Enjoy your sushi if thats what works for you. I eat vegetarian sushi all of the time.Why limit yourself to mashed potato and tuna? Try a stir fried rice, with veggies and/or mixed seafood, such as scallops, calimari, shrimp, etc. Try a new fruit or veggie you have never had. Try quinoa. Fish or bean and cheese tacos are yummy. Its a big, wide world out there if you open your mind
