Do you like Quorn?!

Question:

Do you like Quorn?

I personally don't really like it. I much prefere vegetable quarter pounders or vegetarian frank furters.
What do you think?

Answers:
i personally think its absolutely disgusting. It tastes nothing like meat, in fact it doesnt taste of anything. I'd rather eat vegetarian things that arent supposed to taste like meat but dont, like potatoes and cheese

never had it, but would like to know other peoples views on it,, and maybe a good recipe

if iti s mixed with yummy stuff it is OK but it is boring and bland on its own

i prefer Linda Mccartney grub-a-dub myself. quorns ok as a last resort :-)

I've never tired it...

I wish I was able to eat quorn, as Im a vegetarian and quorn do such a variety of things,ie, chicken breast (not real chicken of course) etc, and most shops have a quorn selection, but for some reason it just gives me a really bad stomach, so I cant eat it.

quorn lasagne is nice. on its own its yukky but mixed with something that has alot of flavour its nice. quorn pieces are odd and so is the quorn slices.

Man - I think their roast is awesome. I season it like i would meat and serve with bbq sauce, mushroom gravy, etc. it has a really substantial consistency. I love boca brand breasfast sausages, smart dog veggie dogs, and morning star veggie bacon and fake ground meat.

but a portabello mushroom burger is the best substitute :)

Some vegetarians prefer other vegetarian options because quorn tastes like meat personally (me being acmails sis) prefer other options because it looks like meat

The sausages are quite tasty but can be a bit dry, the mince and chicken pieces are nice if mixed with a sauce. The burgers are really tasty too. I'm not a vegetarian but I do like to eat quorn for a change from meat.

I do I use in place of chicken and in my chilli's and spag bols

Southern fried quorn burgers are nice but the mince and chicken style cubes is quite bland. It takes a lot of imaginative recipes to make it interesting. Linda Mcartney range is much more flavourfull, paricularly the sausages!

Soggy Cardboard

I used to eat it when I was a vegetarian but it was never my favourite-it tasted a bit wrong somehow.I can't quite explain why.

I'm now vegan so I can't eat it anymore.

I prefer mycoprotein (Quorn) over tofu as the texture is better. As a meat analogue (alternative) it one of the better foods on the market foods IMHO.

I'm with you. Much prefer the veggies! Quorn taste tastes ok (well no taste at all actually) but it gives me stomach ache.

Quorn is basically about as healthy as a Twinkie.
If you read the label, it has so much junk in it, it's not funny.
It is more important, I think, for us vegetarians to eat only healthy foods, and Quorn is not good for you.
Good luck.

Not really, I havent had all there products but this is what I've had of theres.
Chicken Nuggets-NASTY
Naked Chicken-I like it
Roast-LOVE IT
But over all I perfer either Amy's products or MorningStar.

I used to eat Quorn. I agree with some of the comments made already though... you have to flavour it with a nice seasoning or sauce for it to taste nice. On it's own it is very bland. The texture is more 'meaty' than tofu and it seems to 'take' the seasonings a lot better than it's soya counterpart too.

On the other hand though, I've given up quorn because it's basically just a protein of a fungus. Fungii, including some mushrooms, are basically the scavengers of the plant world, much like pigs, rats, lobsters and shrimps in the animal world. In the US, there are court cases against Quorn because it was claimed to use mushroom protein. Now they call it mycoprotein, because it is made from another fungus/mold. I know that a lot of people in the US have also suffered adverse effects from eating Quorn. At the end of the day, it's yet another highly processed food, designed as a substitute for meat. In truth, the vegetarian / vegan diet doesn't need a substitute for meat because it already contains everything we need without us having to have something on the plate that looks, tastes and smells like meat.

Mary, I have tried but cannot abide the muck.
I am a natural omnivore, so do not understand why some folks dress up awful lumps of corn and flour, and God knows what else to resemble a beefbuger.
What on this Earth is a vegetarian frankfurter ?
They are a meat product.
I'm sorry, and each to their own of course, but given the option of a seaweed fritter, or a lump of wild boar on the island, I'm pretty darn sure what the majority would prefer.
God gave my incisors to bite on lumps of animal, not to suck on porrige through a straw.
Ah, I do like Yorkshire puds, but oh dear, they have the unborn innards of hen chicks involved.
Draw your own line, and leave me to a nice steak, preferably a lump of cattle fillet, or a venison thing, and ask my mate to keep that crispy inedible carrot cake out of sight.

Hey Ho !

Bob.

Personally I don't like any meat substitutes and don't see why I should eat them since I don't like meat.
There are so many options available being a vegetarian. Quorn isn't vegan anyway, and I am not even sure what this mycoprotein is and does and how it affects the body after a longer time. Apart from that, all these products contain too much fat and salt and are actually just a replacement for junk food.

quorn is flavored egg patties

I use Quorn for quite a few recipes,IE chilli's curries, as they all contain strong flavours, Quorn is very bland, but if you add spices, herbs, and flavours you can not tell the difference, it is all so healthy for you as it is very low in fat, ideal if your on a diet.

Quorn has several products. I love the tenders (cubed unbreaded and bite sized) They are totally different then veggie burgers or veggie dogs.

morrisons do a good veggie sausage and burger range and reasonably priced too quorn products are a little bland but are a useful source of protien when i use it i make a sauce that has loads of flavour its as easy to make your own as too rely on processed but takes a little time in preperation i make my own nut roasts and you know with a little imagination you can turn the most boring of vegetables into a dish with pzaz for instance how about a mushroom burger take a large mushroom spread a mix of garlic butter and chopped parsley wrap it in foil and bake in oven for about 20 mins serve on burger bun with fried red onions mmmm (who says veggie has to b healthy )

no, i just like plain old fashioned MEAT

I don't like it.
