I have decided to become a vegetarian so my problem .....?
When my family has meat as a main coarse for dinner what should i eat? For example monday my mom is making pork roast monday in a crock pot (makes the meat fall off the bone) and we make them as a sandwhich.....what should I eat then? and when we have sides they usually are not as much as the main attraction. Thanx everyone

I had the same problem when I ate with my family. In your grocery store there are meat free replacements like veggie burgers, "hot dogs", "sausage", "chicken" etc. Your family might warm up to this a little better, and maybe even cook it for you! If you still just don't feel up to that it might help to talk to your family about your recent decision and ask if your family can buy more veggies! Make sure to take a multivitamin for nutrients. good luck!
Eat the bread with peanut butter, and some potatoes (no butter--it is made with animal products).

I don't know how old you are but if your family is not going to make separate main courses for you or at least enough side dishes for you to scrape together as a meal then you'll probably have to go shopping for your own groceries. Stock up on quicky, frozen entrees (like Morningstar) that you can make whenever your family's dinner will not have enough non-meat dishes to fill you. Or you can order out for pizza, eggplant parm, chinese food, etc.
That's what happened to me all the time in high school -- every meal my mom made had meat in it. She thought that would make me change my mind. You can make yourself a sandwich or something, or you can just buy your own food and cook for yourself. It will be tough, but it will be worth it.

This is one of my fav meals it is great and easy to learn and fun to make, if you have time you should make it. If you dont wana make this , for dinner you should try steamed vegies and vegie patties are always good. Or small cubed pumpkin ( roasted) on top of a nice salad with your fav dressing
Tofu Stir FryA healthy stir fy made with a colorful assortment of vegetables and tofu in sauce made with garlic, soy and peanuts.Ingredients:
? 1 pack of extra firm tofu
? 1 pack of stir fry veggies (carrots, shitake mushrooms, boychoks, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, leeks, cabbage, or zucchini)
? 1/4 tsp garlic paste
? 2-3 Tbsp soy sauce
? 1/2 tsp of oil
? 1 tsp peanuts
? 1/4 lemon squeezed
? Salt and cayenne pepper to taste
Method:
Cut the tofu into 1/2 inch pieces and drain with blotting paper. In a non-stick pan add 1/2 tsp oil. Add garlic paste, peanuts and tofu and saute for 1-2 minutes on high-medium flame. Then add veggies and 2-3 tbsp soy sauce and stir for 5-6 minutes briskly on high-medium flame. Add salt and cayenne pepper and mix well. Add a few sprinkles of water if needed. Squeeze 1/4 lemon.
Notes:
1. This is dry stir fry. If gravy is desired, add 1/4 cup coconut milk. 2. This should be served steaming hot over white or brown rice. 3. This is a very healthy vegan recipe ideal for family gatherings, parties or just for a special dinner. Total time: 15-20 minutes.

I am also veg and my kids are not, so I feel for you.
What I do is just cook up several veggie dishes that I really like--say, baked fries, a green salad, some bread and fruit for dessert. That way, my kids can eat what I eat, and all I turn down is the meat.

Just make yourself something easy. Like vegetarian tacos. They are really good. Just take a taco shell. Spread refried beans (make sure they don't have lard) in the taco shell and sprinkle cheese on top. Pop in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds and add salsa.
Or have a sandwhich you can put (pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise*, and other veggies you like.)
Or you can get canned food like soup and pasta. Pasta also comes in bags which you can just add to a bowl of water and milk (or milk substitute) and pop in the microwave for 12 minutes.
Try other easy recipes like this. Don't worry you will think of stuff.
