Vegan not healthy?!

Vegan not healthy?

I truly think vegans are really healthy. but there is a lot of people that say it not becuase you are suppose to eat meats. I just want a normal diet what should I do?

It depends on the person. I tried being simply vegetarian and ended up pretty ill. Despite doing a good job with making sure my diet was complete.

A normal diet is the diet that is normal for you. Regardless of whether you eat vegetarian, vegan, raw or omnivorous you need to keep track of the caloric content & fat content of your foods. People who eat some animal-based foods do not have to do the fancy calculations to be sure they are getting the complete proteins.

Vegan is healthful in that you are not consuming animal fat or bad cholesterol - to say nothing of hormones, antibiotics, etc. However, vegans are more prone to anemia because the human body does not absorb plant-based iron as well as it does animal-based iron. My diet is mostly vegetarian, but I do eat dairy products and eggs, and the occasional bit of seafood, for health reasons.

Meat is not necessary. although, cutting out dairy products can be unhealthy. i suggest becoming a vegetarian not vegan. You need to make sure you take vitamins and eat food such as spinach to gain iron.

It's possibly to eat perfectly healthy as a vegan, but it's also possible to eat very unhealthy. The same is true for other kinds of vegetarians, and also for people who eat meat. It really depends on each individual's diet.

One thing that's a bit difficult with a vegan diet is that you need to make sure you get enough protein. That's very possible - there are many vegan foods that contain lots of it, such a lentils, beans, and other legumes, tofu, and nuts - but one has to make sure to get enough of those.

It's the same as for everyone else: Make sure you get enough nutrients and vitamins, and you'll be eating healthy. Stick with junk food, and you won't.

Any diet can be unhealthy if it is unbalanced. Vegans, like everyone else, have to work at making certain they get enough of everything their body needs to be healthy. With vegans, the particular challenge may be proteins but of course that can be overcome.

I don't what problems you are having,but I haven't ran into any yet.Maybe if you have been tired alot you probably aren't eating enough calories,or if you just don't feel good maybe you should buy some free range eggs and free range milk and see if you feel better as a vegetarian,or start taking a multivitamin and see how you feel.

Who are you going to trust, a meat eater who's never even tried vegetarianism and knows nothing about nutrition, or somebody like me who's been vegan for the past year or so and has never felt healthier?

Even though I may not always agree with veg*ns or the lifestyle, I can say that I don't really doubt that it is healthy. If you do the proper research, and you are willing to take the time and effort, I don't think you would have a problem with giving up meat. Just make sure you really know what you are doing, and consult a nutritionist if you get stuck:)

I think people where created to be omnivores and eat both meats and vergetables, however, I think a vegan diet can be healthy. You just need to pay more attention than people eating lean meats have to. You should read up on balancing vegeatble proteins to form complete proteins (beans + rice for example)
Also, be careful of your soy intake, particularly unfermented soy(tofu, soy milk, meat substitutes) A lot of vegans go way overboard with tofu, and that can be harmful because it can cause an unnatural amount of estrogens in the body, which causes hormone problems and is believed to contribute to certainc cancers.
If you do your homework, and get accustomed to some good balanced recipes, you can probably stay pretty healthy.

You want a "normal diet" huh?

Well, normal, and natural are two different things these days.
Normal is eggs, bacon, orange juice, toast, and coffee for breakfast. Most of those things I never eat, and ther rest rarely.

I would suggest first looking at taking a biology class and learning just how the digestion system and other systems work in humans and animals. You'll find that living in a hot climate and eating lots of fruit is best for humans. But few live in such a place these day, let alone do much else that people would have considered natural 1000 years ago. But I try to eat as naturally as I can. If it was hot all the time I wouldn't have a problem eating fruits all the time and nothing else, but I live up north and it's cold and wet and fruit is expensive until summer... So, I do the best I can under the modern circumstances. I became what some call 'vegan' around 1990 for athletic reasons. I was just trying to eat more as a 'natural' human. Then noticed all sorts of other benifits too. Some people say humans are supposed to eat meat, but actually I believe that they are wrong. Sure, we can live off of meats if need be; any animal can eat something they are not specifically designed for, but they won't thrive. Sure, a lion can live off of fruits and vegetables etc. (and all meat eaters do eat vegetation too), but will it thrive? I wouldn't think so. That's my two-cents worth.

just eat whatever you want, eat whole foods, eat real fruit and veggs, take vitimans, get your proteins, eat well, live well

no thats not true..i am vegetarian and i am still healtjy...just eat all the vegetables,fruits,beans,legume... try to take vitamin-D and calcium supplment.....u will do good...without any meat at all
