Have you ever eaten raw beats? Raw Foodists?!

Question:

Have you ever eaten raw beats? Raw Foodists?

My friend told me about being a raw foodist. And I ate a raw beet, usually, I eat them boiled or pickled, and I love them. This was a bit bitter, and wierd.

Please share, if you have any comment, health wise, or what not. The one I ate was tiny, about the size of a golf ball. Maybe it wasn't in season. Also, share first time eating weird raw foods ,if you've ever done that.

Answers:
oh, I love raw beets! They are wonderful in salad. Sounds like the one you had just wasnt ripe. I love to juice them with carrots, sprouts, spinach and celery. Lovely. But, they do turn your poo red, so dont panic! lol I don't find anything raw weird. Its in its natural state, full of enzymes. I eat about 80 percent raw, and love it

I love my veggies, I eat them everyday, but I cannot stand anything raw, I have to cook them.

raw foodies aren't getting the essential nutrients.

they should learn about steaming also.

not all vegetables and other foods can fortify essential vitamins and minerals when raw. steaming food can unlock those things.

raw is mainly for fiber.

I like raw beets "shoestringed" on salads. Also raw turnips.
