Do we have to take this insult any longer?!
Do we have to take this insult any longer?
It appears that the vegetarian - vegan section is rather small, and one gets to know the Ids of other members posting here quite soon. Being a vegetarian or vegan is a choice everyone made for himself, so I really get fed up with these insults, presumptions and accusations here. I believe this to be a board for exchanging questions and answers related to the topic and not the playground for people with psychological problems. As a vegan I don't go to other boards and insult meat eaters. So why do we have to keep up with these intolerance, being called a "dangerous cult" etc?
I just reported someone who keeps posting nonsense and insults concerning vegans and would like your opinion: do we have to deal with that? What is wrong with these people?
Answers:
tolerance - it's a wonderful word with a wonderful meaning
you might have to put up with the insults in a Free society but you can counter them with facts and you do not have to accept them.
Can you not just rise above it and ignore them. Surely you are reacting just how they want you to
It's their choice to eat the flesh of animals, and it's our choice not to. Simple as that. However I presume you're refering to one particular participant who for some reason has a major grudge against vegans. The best thing we can do is completely ignore him, because, like a nuaghty child, he will soon get fed up of not being noticed and, hopefully, cease his lunatic rantings. Keep the faith, sister!
Yes it must be infuriating. Try ignoring the idiots, and reporting.
People tend to insult what they don't understand. I think you are quite admirable in choosing that lifestyle. I'm a meat eater who would like to give up but don't know how to do so healthily. Good luck to you.
Agree with previous posters, - best thing you can do is to ignore them! You don't have to justify your choice to anyone, if you want to be vegetarian, then be it and forget about those sad people who don't have anything better to do!
Throwing insults around isn't going to change any vegan. Most people, I hope, know that fast foods, meat and butter are bad for them If everyone went vegan, the world would be a much healthier place.
just ignor them !!!! I stay away from certain questions that i could only answer sarcasticly (but others dont!)
I stick to Qs i can A seriously or humour ones
The problem is you post a question in the Vegetarian & Vegan section & it will automatically be posted in Food & Drink because you are discussing food. In the Food & Drink area you get people as passionate about eatting meat as you are about not eatting meat. The fact of the matter is people go on the Food & Drink area to talk about their love for meat and Veg-Heads as I call them (by the way i am a Veg-Head) sometimes do the same thing in their sights. Fact of the matter is that neither one is right and this sight should give the cornavores a section as well, and these questions should not be posted in the Food & Drink catagory. Forgive.
Are you insulted? If the person posting the comments actually believes that vegetarianism is dangerous then perhaps it is a challenge to explain what vegetarianism is really all about.
Anything taken to extremes can be dangerous, people who become 'vegetarians' without understanding properly about nutrition can do themselves harm.
Some people who have 'other problems' ,shall we say, become none meat eaters as an excuse not to eat, than there are also those who insult meat eaters, regarding them as a sub species
because they don't 'respect' animals.
You should stay calm and continue to express the positive side of vegetarianism getting angry will only devalue your argument.
Personally I like meat but have no problem with those who choose not to eat meat for reasons of ,life style, health or even politics. It is up to the individual to use their own judgement and take care to try to be healthy.
There are many kinds of people out there, and there will be some people who like to do that. I agree with many of the answers above: ignore the posts. Tolerance is also important. When we get piss over such posts, it will only hurt ourselves. If they like to win, let them, it doesn't hurt us.
I know who you mean , i have just read all his Q`S and answers and this person is dillusional , i do not know why he is obsessed with this category , it would be ok if he knew what he was talking about but the guys a dufus .. Just ignore him and if no-one were to reply to his postings then i m sure he would go to another category to see if he could muster up more attention from them but for now don`t give him any satisfaction .....
Do you have to take it? Yeah, if you're gonna be here in Answers. Should people taunt and insult? No, of course not.
You think V&V is bad? Try R&S (Religion & Spirituality). V&V is tame, R&S is HORRID.
Fortunately, my lifestyle (which includes no meat) allows me to have the balance necessary to deal with all types of insults and object viewpoints without feeling emotionally driven to retaliate.
OOOHHHHMMMMM.......
You dont know me I eat meat and am not against your freedom of choice but you are showing up as a person who is taking the stupid people too seriously on this world wide pretty loose program. Just ignore them and get on with the good work you do for your preference group the sillies are just that .. The sillies Ok cheers.
There's this annoying thing called free speech, you see. And not everyone who disagrees with some of the things posted is here to be rude or a trouble maker, but may just have serious objections to nutritional claims that are made which may not be accurate.
You seem perfectly normal, although I consider vegan diets to be a rather ill-advised and nutritionally inadequate diet, and I doubt you do go ranting at those who are omnivorous. But you have to admit some do, not the least of which are some extremist groups like PETA. I reserve the right to criticize a group that approves of vandalism and domestic terrorism, produces rather offensive propaganda directed at children, and who indeed does intrude and object to the diet of others.
And knowing what I know about how some parts of PETA have abused animals they were supposedly rescuing, I really have to question their motives, not to mention smear campaigns based on old evidence and situations no longer occurring. PETA's hardliners really do approach cult status, in my opinion.
It's about tolerance, for one thing. An adult should be free to eat the diet they choose, free both from idiots who demand that you eat meat or that call others murders for having a steak. You are entitled to an opinion, but not to the right to cram it down someone else's throat.
What's sensible to you may well appear nonsense to someone else, and vice versa. It is possible to disagree without being rude and ugly. When I see something being posted that is inaccurate or distorted or simply ignorant posted, I can and will respond, whether the poster is a vegetarian, vegan, omnivore or whatever else. I reserve the right to say that a breatharian is just plain nuts because human beings are not capable of photosythesis. When I see a misguided fool or child saying all vegetarians are stupid and unhealthy, I object to that as well.
What you seem to be asking for is segregating posters into "us" and "them" so you never have to think about anything objectively or consider another point of view. I'm old enough to know that only talking to people just like yourself is not only boring but counterproductive to learning.
One point of yours I take issue with it that everyone chooses their diet for themself. Most children eat what their parents decide is the appropriate diet and have no choice in the matter at all. And because of that, misinformation can negatively impact those who are not yet able to decide for themselves. An example of that would be actual cultists who were feeding mashed fruits and vegetable to newborns because all milk is "bad" including human breast milk. No rational vegan I know has ever believed anything like that.
A little bit of an open mind about the opinions of others couldn't hurt either side, so I see keeping the dialogue open far more important than the idiots who only humiliate themselves and their claims. Report them then ignore them, but don't close you mind to all who don't think exactly as you do.
Here endeth the sermon.
Users are getting insulted all the time not just vegans or vegatarians.
Just keep reporting them or perhaps you could just ignore them
who knows but they are in every section so just ignore them...not worth getting all worked up over
The one person you are referring to thinks what he is doing is fun. My guess (profiling him) is that he is lonely, friendless and most likely morbidly obese. This is one of his only outlets and he has been posting here for ages. Take it with a grain of salt..he isn't worth it.
Girl, Eat Meat is my slogan. Do you know why god put animals on this earth??????????? So we can eat them.
Hi .....Just want to point out that your vegetables are grown in bone meal dug into the ground.....
Have a nice day..... :)
So even though you dont eat animals they are killed to produce your food....
Don't ignore it!! Report it!!!! THey ain't gonna go away by themselves, we got to report them so that yahoo will make them go away. When they don't get abuse reported they just get encouraged and get ruder! That's how the religeon section got so messed up. People kept saying just ignore the trolls and now the entire section seems to be mostly trolls!
I don't want this section to get that bad!!!!!
REPORT THE ABUSERS!!!
I'm vegetarian, and I agree, I can't go anywhere with out someone yelling PETA- people eating tasty animals, it's ridiculous. And none of the adults take it seriously, they just think I'm "rebeling against authority" like it's a phase or something. Being vegan would be worse (in that sense) i would assume, just cause you prolly get even more crap than me. They just can't accept the fact that we have minds of our own and we KNOW the causes about eating meat (& dairy in your case) fight it as much as you can, vegetarians and vegans don't deserve that.
Hello,
(ANS) dear Gabriella I sympathise with your point of view, I was myself a vegan for a year, a vegetarian for over 20years & now a vegatrian & also gluten free (wheat free) for the last 7years.
Your point of view is no different to me being an atheist & religious extremists (fundamentalists) going around tell people to open their hearts to jesus, or going round spouting "praise the lord" all the time, or tell me that intelligent design matters more than darwinian evolution through natural selection.
I for one could also say like you "whats wrong with these people?". How come they might be rational intelligent people on one level yet when it comes to religon they believe all that non sensical irrational clap trap about god. How can they actually believe that stuff, its totally bonkers to me, its a joke!! I cannot take the idea of any organised religon seriously for even a nano second.
**So coming back to your point, please DONT waste your time getting so upset about other people who dont share your views on being a vegan or vegatarian. We all make choices, some people choose in a very intelligent informed way, others DONT.
**As long as I dont have to eat the horrible flesh of dead creatures I feel fine. If others can live with the knowledge of the suffering that producing that meat involved let them get on with it.
**Gabriella DONT give it energy, dont let it upset up!! the less energy you give it, the quicker it will go away. Your only upset because you care about this issue, who ever or whatever is upsetting you its pressing your buttons but you dont have to let that happen. DONT be so reactive to this!! Try to step back from those immediate feelings. The world is fully of wind up artists, shock jocks, & button pressers who like nothing more than to get a cheap rise out of someone else. They enjoy that!! as petty as it seems its sadly true.
Best Regards Ivan
Well, people on the whole are idiots. As an adult, you should be well aware of that by now.
Anyway, so long as an individual isn't directly attacking people, they have every right to post their dissenting opinions on here. Free speech and all that good stuff.....
I report them also, and I am pretty sure you won't see an answer to this from that particular questioneer.
But, knowledge is power. It gives us the power to understand what drives people to behave in certain ways. It gives us the power to see through the BS. It gives us the power to inform the rest of the community when challenged to do so.
We can continue to argue with those who attack us. We can continue to point these people out as frauds to those others who read their comments. But, we cannot keep them from voicing their opinions, no matter how wrong they may be. This is America, land of free speech.
But, as for outright lies and fabricated stories, I have and will continue to battle those who post comments containing them. If supported with factual data that we can check, then let them speak. But fairy tales that push an ideology that I do not agree with should not be tolerated.
I think I reported on the same person five times yesterday. Go to his history and report on every question he posts, because they are in fact outright lies.
I think it is such a shame that there is so much intolerance regarding peoples likes and dislikes. I'm afraid I get annoyed with the insults in both directions. To be fair I think some people 'jump on bandwagons' for no other reason than to cause trouble, and I'm sure it's a case of the minority giving the majority a bad name.
However, I am not a vegetarian or vegan, that is my choice and I respect your choice. I regularly look in this section to get inspiration for a meal. My lunches are usually vegetarian because I don't like eating meat mid day.
