Is it right for a vegan to say this to me?!
Is it right for a vegan to say this to me?
I recently posted a topic about a bad experience I had at a restaurant involving a vegan who spit on my food because I ordered a lobster. I was at the restaurant with my family, I was rewarding my kids for a job well done in their home studies. My wife home schools our kids.
To make a long story short, I posted about the experience on Yahoo! and a poster by the name of panicfan4peace replied with "...was it worth torturing and killing an animal by boiling it alive just so you could feed your fat face".
In summary, "panicfan4peace" supported the actions of this waiter who spit in my food.
The question I have is this. Is it right for people to support these hate crimes carried out by vegans?

no its not imvegeterian not vegan and i dont beleive in killing animals for us to eat but he should not of done that you are quite within your rights to eat what ever you want and have a nice meal with out someone spitting on it every one has an opinion about eating meat but to spit in someones dinner is disgusting i personally would not eat there again
AS A VEGAN.... THIS IS REDICULOUS BEHAVIOUR
TO EACH HIS/HER OWN
No obviously not. Mentallists.
DEFINATELY NOT! This is still a free country, and we all have a right to what we believe in. These radicals, who think their opinions count for the most make me sick.
well he is TECHNICALLY right that killing animals is wrong, but it was wrong for the waiter to spit in your food.
No, Everyone has there own opinions...that person you are talking about is wrong...I don't mind people that don't eat meat and I never say that they are wrong and I expect the same from them, what you eat is your business!!!
Sounds pretty far fetched to me!! Your waiter served you a lobster then spit on it? I would have given him a lobster enema. It seems they feel like it is their mission to force thier beliefs upon others.
what a small minded nasty individual. did you report him? i am a vegetarian and I would never dream of saying anything like this. what a total idiot who deserves to be ignored - after he is reported that is.
No its not. these morons obviously don't know that the lobster like fish doesn't feel the pain, thats why they are cooked like that and not killed first.
its vegan-terrorism
People like that are fascist social terrorists.
NO, it is NOT appropriate for anyone to deliberately contaminate your food for ANY reason.
What if that person had a disease and didn't know it?
Imagine if he gave you hepatitis or something like that? According to his thinking, wouldn't you then have the right to murder him for doing that?
Idiots!
Personally, I don't think so. I think it is very cruel to boil an animal alive and then eat it, but that's your prerogative. Not doing so is theirs. They shouldn't try to impose their beliefs on you, as they are assuming that their beliefs are correct and that everyone should follow them.
No, it's not. We are all entitled to our own opinions and have a right to do as we wish (so long as it's not something illegal). We have to be tolerant of others, or we'd have complete anarchy. I personally wouldn't eat lobster, as I think it's cruel, but I am glad that we live in a society where you have the freedom to do so, if you want.
No, it's not right. Everybody is allowed to have their believes but respecting someone else (and not insulting) is/should be a human quality in order to get on (all of us) on this Planet!
NO NOT AT ALL!!! the circle of life involves eating animals too. dont you think that lobster is eating something that was once alive as well? do vegans get mad when a lion eats a zebra??
vegans really get under my skin, and for them to do that you when your trying to reward your child is dumb. what is a vegan doing being a waiter anywhere besides some hippy vegtable bar anyway?
as far as panicfan4peace, their prolly just some hippy loser thinking hes helping the world by not ordering the lobster, when all they are doing in reality is hurting their own health, smelling terrible and pissing us normal people off.
im sorry your kids dinner was ruined, you were doing the right thing, and by all means you have a great arguement. lets have steak tonight and talk about it. cheers
No. Sound like a bunch of lunatics.
they have no right to do that. i my opinion vegans have chosen to not eat meat- but to the rest of us its normal, livestock are there to be eaten.
it is stupid for vegans to be so horrid to people who eat meat, if it wasnt allowed to eat animals the government would have put a stop to it. but its a part of life,
what the hell are we supposed to do with animal remains when they die because we cant eat them if they die on their own?
take no notice to people like that, its not wrong to eat meat and vegans want to learn to accept that. we accept the fact that they eat like a rabbit
the bible says something along the lines that if u want to be a vegetarian or w/e thats fine, and if u dont thats ok to, and it also says u shouldt think differently about those people who do or dont, i would ignore this idiot who is trying way to hard to press his opinions onto others, plants are living things to who also feel pain, they bleed, grow, and feel just like anything else. just becuase they dont have vocal cords to scream out pain doesnt mean they dont feel it.
**im suporting what u say, but dont call it a cult.....fad, in some cases, but never a cult, your just as worse as that person, dont let yourself sink to that level**
No but people also support the E.L.F. terrorists who spike trees and torch cars(mostly SUVs) so why would this be any different.
I think that everyone has the right to choose thier own food type and that Vegatarians no mater what they name themselves should let others eat what they want.
As far as the waiter spitting on your food i do so hope that you ratted him to the managment and he got canned.
this behaviour is not acceptable for anyone to engage in, not just vegans.
also this waiter should be reported if you already haven't done so.
Should a waiter who is a vegan be working in a restaurant which serves meat? He should take it up with the owner or better still find a vocation which does not contradict his morals. Besides this he should never have spit on your food.... Religions and such beliefs should be understood. non compromising result in bigotry and racism.
That is unacceptable behaviour. But on the other hand, so is boiling a living creature to death. Which is worse? (I'm not vegan).
And if you are a genuine foxhunter is that why you're so obsessively against vegans and don't care for other peoples opinions?
no -everyone is entitled to their opinion and that means everyone. e.g. I do not smoke and i hate smoking but if someone wants to smoke then taht is their choice. I do not condone abuse in any form to any life form but you are entitled to choose what you want to eat. Incidentally most vegans i have met are closet anorexics.
NO it is not right!!! This is one of the most annoying issues we have here in the USA. It does not matter what your personal beliefs are, you need to keep them to yourself. Just how arrogant is that waiter? What gives him/her the right to invade the diner? Why are you working in the restaurant in the first place? Did you not think people would order meals from the menu that would offend you? Why do you think you have the right to offend the diner? Did the waiter ask the restaurant owner if he supported this position? Everyone thinks they have the right to impose their beliefs on other people.
Get a life! If you want to live your vegan way, then fine. Other people have the same privilege, you need to respect them just like you want to be respected.
Absolutely not!!!!!!!! You are a person with rights as well, and you are intitled to them. I assume you had reported the crime not only to the manager and to the owner of the establishment but also to the Board of Health and to the police. That is a serious violation of sanitation.
Hi FHG! I see you aren't suspended again yet! Anyone answering him needs to understand he's just someone that likes to slander vegheads every chance he gets. He claims to be the only meat eater in a town that is 99.99% vegan!!
I've offered to switch domiciles with him to solve all his problems with vegans but he doesn't want to answer that!!
Hmm, hate crimes? Maybe us veggie types should take some lessons from the ADL and file charges on FHG.
No if the waiter wants to work in a restaurant that sells animal produce then he or she should accept it and get on with the job in hand. And keep his opinion to himself or get another job.
That is not right...I am a vegetarian, and prefer not to watch others eat meat, but I wouldn't go as far as to spit in their food.
Wrong wrong wrong, i know your kids were there but you should have shoved the lobster up his ar$e. If you want to be a vegi or vegan then go for it, i eat meat every day and i enjoy it, my daughter is a vegi, nothing wrong with that, but we don't shove our views down each others throats. Go back to the restaurant and smack him right in the mouth, preferably with a lobster claw
No, it was mean spirited and cruel for him/her to say that to you. That was no doubt a horrid experience for you, and you should INDEED report that waiter. I have little doubt the owner of that restaurant would want an employee imposing his views about food to people paying good money to eat at their restaurant. I would go directly there, and talk to the manager face to face. As for the fad/cult bit, please dont be as quick to judge him as he was you. There are many reasons people chose alternative diets. In my case, its the simple fact that I have a rare medical condition that does not allow my body to digest meat protien in any form. I am often ridiculed for my vegetarian (not vegan) diet, when the simple fact of the matter is that I have no choice. I miss meat very much at times, but cannot tolerate even the tiniest bite. Keep in mind that people make their choice based on THEIR experience. I do not judge people who eat meat, and wish that people who do did not judge me because I dont. Its not a fad, but a way of life.
