I am an overnight vegan who needs help changing my diet!?
After seeing the horrors that factory farmed animals suffer, I have become an overnight vegan.
Any suggestions or helpful websites that you can offer would be much appreciated.

OK people, it seems some are confused - I'm not fat! I have stopped eating animal products because I don't want to support cruelty.

Just a tip: If you eat unhealthy foods it will make you hungrier and make you just want to eat more and more.
the first thing that people deal with when they are overweight is the amount of physical activity/ exercise they engage in...it is hard to just lose weight from changing your diet...it is crucial to engage in physical activity/exercise atleast 3-5 days/wk for atleast 30-45 mins to moderate to vigorous intensity....that is a guideline that i follow from the ACSM...American College of Sports Medicine!.
it seems like u might be eating too many carbohydrates.. these will cause u to gain weight if u eat too many of them..
if u want to be a vegetarian or a vegan, try eating more proteins.. like tofu, nuts, beans.. and cheese and milk...
Try the vegan forum there will be many vegans there who are willing to help you out and give u advice if u need. Click the link below and click the main page and you can find lots of stuff.. recipes, where to find vegan food etc.

I have put a lot of thought in this question. I posted my answer here. I hope you enjoy it. You need to do this right (even if that means a bit slower than you were hoping.) If you rush into it, you may give up, not realizing how bountiful a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle can be.

First I would like to thank you for your effort to stop animal cruelty. Know that your effort is not in vain and that it takes one human at time for this to be accomplished.
As for your diet: I would recommend that you order this free vegetarian starter kit from PETA.org: http://www.goveg.com/order.asp
It helped me a load and it has a lot more information on the other things that you can do to stop animal cruelty. It has diet information, it has information on the various health benefits that you will gain from being a vegan, and it's free so go ahead and get it.
And if you feel that this is too extreme of a change, you can always buy organic animal products that have come from animals that are not abused, drugged, slaughtered, etc. . .
Good luck.
all i can tell you is to plan ahead, have all the food stocked and ready in the house, make menus and meal plans
and have backup food ready incase you dont' have time to cook
ideal backup food is dried fruit, instant noddles, trail mix, nuts and seeds, canned soy milk
