Are Burger King/Mc Donalds' french fries meat free?
Are Burger King/Mc Donalds' french fries meat free? Do they conform to the various levels of not-eating-meat-diets for Vegetarians, Vegans and/or Roman Catholics on Fridays in Lent? Just curious.

The vegetarian guide to dining out only recognizes the veggie burgers as veg-friendly.
Technically, they are supposed to change the oil from when they use it for meat in the morning to when they use it for fries in the afternoon... but don't bet on it.
If you want to eat fries from one of the places, choose BK.
McDonald's has ritualistically lied about their ingredients. They lied for years about their fries not being made out of dead cow (yes, that's right... animal flesh was *in* the fries, not just the cooking lard.) Religious groups found them out and sued.
For years later (up until a few months ago) they lied about milk being in their fries (even though people have milk intolerance.)
You can't trust anything about them. If you actually care about the greater scheme of things, you cannot buy even a salad from Mc's without directly contributing to some of the most hideous factory farming around.
I commend your for being thorough, but for Lent purposes however, you really shouldn't worry too much. Both places supposedly use vegetarian oil. And Mc's was supposed to have taken the dead cow out of their ingredients.
God Luck with Lent!
I believe french fries are made with pototoes.
Neither are fried in animal based oils however, McDonalds fries have trans fat(very bad!) and BK doesn't.

I don't know about Burger King, but McDonalds uses beef stock in their french fries. A friend of mine is a veg, and won't eat their fries for that very reason.
Well hon, french fries are made out of potatoes, so my guess is yes, they do not have meat in them.
They are meat free, but they are not vegan friendly. At the individual restaurants they are fried in vegetable oil, but at those restaurants they are re-cooked. When they are originally cooked they are cooked in lard.
besides, regardless of whether or not they are vegan friendly, mcdonalds isn't the business to support if you support animal rights.
I dont know where you live but here in canada there is a transfat war...both of those places claim to do their deepfrying in vegetable oil now.The stink of those places is enough to put you off isnt it ?
no meat made wit potatoes isn't obvious?
french fires on both places are made of processed potato product, so they are meat free, how ever some vegans will not eat them cause they are fried in the same oil of other meat products.
*** Now the only other thing that comes to mind are the chcken fries that BK has on their menu, well they are a met product. The name includes "fries" just because of the shape.
yeh in beef stock stuff or was it whale fat i can't rember but it is
They are meat free but not vegan. They are flavored with animal derived amino acids, McDonalds uses beef and Burger King uses poultry. When I found this out I stopped eating at either place. I also just recently found out that Pizza Hut has beef stock in all their sauces, so I don't eat there either.
as far as i know the french fries do not have any meat in them but these days you never know! good luck!
I heard they have something to do with beef broth or something like that. I'm a vegetarian and i stopped eating at both those place years ago.
