Is it me but boca burgers tast and smeel gross?!

Question:

Is it me but boca burgers tast and smeel gross?

I have been a vege almost vegan for 3 weeks now. i am starving all the time. what is good and filling?

Answers:
It's all that artificial charcoal flavor they put in them. The only good use for them is in the middle of a bun with lots of lettuce, onion and tomato. Be sure to use a good schmear of soft tofu on the bottom bun and a dollop of mustard on the top.

Next time try the vegan Morningstar Farms burger or just do like me and make your own from some seitan and okara!

Edit:

If you want good filling 'stick to your ribs' type food it's time you learned about whole grains like Barley and Quinoa! Try cooking a cup of either grain with a diced onion, pepper (bell or hot), a couple of tomatoes in veggie broth! You could crumble in some Lightlife or Morningstar farms vegan breakfast sausage to make it a little 'meatier' if you like. A two cup serving of that will keep you full for HOURS and it's delicious also!!

Look. There's no vegetable substitution for meat. There just isn't. If you're going to eat meat, eat a hamburger. Or a hotdog. If you are no longer eating meat, eat a salad. Soy, mushrooms, tofu, shredded newspaper, etc, are NOT replacements for meat.

No, they are good. Or try Garden Burgers or Morningstar Farms spicy black bean burgers.

Indian food or other veg. ethnic foods. You need real food and real meals. Sub. meat is easy, you just need to learn how to do it right. Get a book on vegan cooking

I love Boca burgers; MorningStar is another brand that's pretty good. Your problem is you are looking for the meat taste, and you're not going to find it in veggie burgers. When I first became vegan I did the same thing, but once I got it through my head that they are NOT meat and they're not going to taste like meat, and started adding different seasonings to them and cooking them in different ways, I came to like them. Don't nuke them, season them like you would season a burger and throw it in a frying pan or on a George Foreman grill. Besides the veggie burgers there are veggie chikn patties and nuggets that are battered and everything, they're really good too. Mostly it's a matter of changing your mindset though, you just have to stop comparing everything to meat. Oh yeah, Amy's vegan stuff is good too, I love the veggie lasagna.

personally, i dont like boca burgers either..
but i love garden burgers chik'n grill.
those are the best things out there
plus their bbq riblets are fantasic.
and theyre vegan as well.

I don't like boca burgers, but I love their ground "beef". Heat it with some taco seaoning and make tacos, I can't really tell much difference. Try it as a meat sauce in spaghetti too, it's great.

learn to make tofu, it's the best i swear

don't eat boco burgers or any of those fake meat stuff

make potatos, make juice, buy peanuts and sunflower seeds and eat the seeds when hungry. don't starve, eat good food

I'm not a vegan of vegetarian but I like boca burgers... Salad is good. I've heard that there is soy yogurt and they say that's good. Veggies and fruit are always good for you(organic IS healthier).

I personally like Boca-especially the roasted veggie variety.
Remember that you can eat a lot more with a plant based diet as long as you limit the fat. Whole grains and legumes are the most filling-and tasty too!

Becoming vegetarian is a choice, not a punishment.
Try to eat from all the food groups besides meat.
This includes:
Rice :cooked or rice crackers and rice cakes
Barley
Couscous
Corn-tortilla chips, corn bread, etc
Spreadable foods like nut butters, hummus, cream cheese, etc
Dips like Ranch dressing or salsa
Nuts, Trail mix
The other advice I would give you is to eat salads daily and learn to cook at least a few basic, healthy meals. You cannot live off Veggie burgers and remain healthy. It would be almost as bad as eating beef burgers and nothing else!
Go to your local Whole Foods or other natural food store and browse, then ask the staff lots of questions.
Borrow books/cookbooks from your public library.
Take a vitamin supplement each day.
Drink water and eat at least 4-5 pieces of fruit each day.
Good luck.

Just from looking at the ingredients in boca burgers I wouldn't eat them. They do taste gross.

What's filling food? Starchy foods. Taro is the most filling vegetable I've ever had. Potatoes. Pasta, beans, lentils, .... all filling. Grains are filling too -- rice, oats, barley, millet...

You are also starving likely due to your digestion not being used to that kind of food. Just like when most N. Americans go to a Chinese restaurant and eat all those veggies and rice than 40 minutes after dinner, they are starving again. They just can't absorb the nutrients properly yet. Takes time to adjust.
