Does low-fat margarine and butter contain animal products?!

Question:

Does low-fat margarine and butter contain animal products?

Answers:
I've only seen one that is animal free! I can't remember the name but it's only sold in health food type stores and tastes nasty!!

All the others I've seen contain dairy and/or gelatin.

EarthBalance is the best Vegan product but isn't low-fat. You can 'play' with it to lower the fat content by whipping it (to add air-thus lower fat per volume). You can also mix 1 tablespoon Xanthan gum to 1/4 cup water and whip the resulting gel into a tub of Earthbalance to lower the fat content even more but doing this results in a product only suitable for spreading and the texture/mouthfeel is adversely affected.

some does and some doesnt. Margarine would most likely be vegetable oil, butter from milk.

Yes! check the ingredients. some contain gelatin.

Read the labels. The government lets them lie,but do the best job of choosing you can,I always call the co. telephone number on label and ask.

Butter comes from milk, so if something is called "low-fat margarine and butter" it does. If it just called margarine, read the label.

Butter is made from milk and is an animal product.

Margarine may or may not contain animal products. You'll need to check the labels. Some margarine contain milk or certain vitamins which are derived from animals.
