If you're not going to eat it, then dont kill it. agree?!

Question:

If you're not going to eat it, then dont kill it. agree?

i was brought up to believe that you shouldnt kill something unless you were going to eat it. i am an omnivore and i often hunt and fish. if im not going to eat the fish i catch, ill turn them loose to love again. if i want game meat, ill go hunt it. but what i wont do is try to make someone change their way of eating. if you dont want to eat animal products, then dont. i personally choose to eat meat but i also love the good homegrown vegetables from my garden. does that make me a bad person? i think not.

Answers:
no you are not a bad person. I'm a vegetarian, eating and not eating meat is a choice and belief. why should i yell at you because of your choice. I respect what you believe in even if I don't believe in it. I think for me to get respect for what i do I must respect your ways and other people ways as well. I'm fine with people eating meat because its their belief and choice and other people shouldn't tell them what to do or that they are a bad person. I like the fact that you kill to eat and not for enjoyment.

Killing animals for pleasure and killing animals out of nessecity are two different things.

I dont think so either. My wife is a vegatarian and I always ask her "how do you know when you kill a plant to eat it does not hurt the plant. How veg's know plants don't have feelings too.

I agree with this to a point...my son when he was little went on a field trip...they were sitting under a tree having their lunch...some ants were crawling on their legs so they were brushing them off...some woman freaked out at them telling them it was a sin to kill anything they weren't going to eat...Soooo...as far as animals...I agree...but when it comes to a bug that has invaded my house etc....I can not agree. :)

exactly, they are two different things wuth a connection between them! i mean vegeterians believe in not killing anything to eat, so why don't we not kill anything we are not going to eat.

That is the way it is meant to be. To needlessly kill is wrong. People need protein in their diet. If you don't want to get it from meat then supplement, but don't knock people who are doing what people have done for centuries to survive. I believe it was fat from meat that helped our brains develop and brought us from cavemen to homosapiens.

as long as you feel it is ok, than it is ok. what i don t agree with is with those who think that because they turn vegitarian, less meat will be produced, becuase it will not. or at least not in the short term.... it needs years for meat producers to decrease their meat produce.

I agree. "Rise Peter, kill and eat... ..." Acts 10:13.
I hunt and fish too, and I eat whatever I kill: Deer, birds, rabbits.
And I eat or release the fish I catch as well.

That is a very balanced outlook and one I share wholeheartedly.
I eat all meats and fish and like yourself let whatever isn't for the pot go free.I deplore hunting for fun and the killing of anything other than in the most humane way possible.
The least we can do is show respect for what we have been given

no it doesn't make you a bad person. i totally agree with if you are not going to eat it , don't kill it. there are so many hunters out there who just want something to hang on their wall and brag about, i am glad you are one of the ones who will eat what they kill! waste not, want not!

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR GROWING A PUS-Y CONSCIENCE, I AGREE WITH YOU BUT NOT AS FAR AS MAKING IT A DEBATE

i agree with a singular exeption that is if the animal is going to kill you then (i suppose it really is a necessity).

killing for pleasure is a practice i find wrong and cruel and see no pleasure in killing

Eating what you want can't make you a bad person unless you turn into Hannibal or some sort of people who do cruel things to animals just to say they did it! Eating meat is not bad at all as long as it's OK with you. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm not to fond of meat as well. I believe that the way you choose your meal and the way you choose to have it makes you a really good person. Not many people have that sense of caring for the environment and nature. As for the title of your question i do not think our world is that pink and dreamy so that people would actually stop killing if you and i and some others stop consuming meat! They do not even stop killing animals that are supposed to be endangered species.

No. You are not a bad person! Killing animals for food is ok! Killing them for fun is borderline sadistic. I think that you should eat what you kill, just like you said. My mother always told my brother that...one time she cooked and made him eat a crow that he shot.

Im with ya. as a meat eater I abhor waste, the animal in question died for me to live, and I hate it when that is disrespected.

Does a murderer eating his or her (human) victim make killing that person ok? According to your logic it should, But I don't think it does.

I never liked the idea of hunting.I think it is cruel.I understand it is the way life is,most eat meat.well then but it in the store. How can someone look at a beautiful animal such as deer and shoot it and be proud.where I live we see deer all the time and i still am amazed at how wonderful they are.hunting is a sport?how do they figure?I say it is cruel.stick with getting food from the grocery store.

Matt has basically stated that animals are equally important as humans. I'm sorry, but no animals life has as much importance or relevance as that of a human. For one to think that an animals life is just as important as his own is absurd. Can anyone possibly believe that the life of a pig, cow, or chicken can even compare to the life of a human being? If one thinks such a thing they believe that they are an animal. We have souls, the ability to speak, the ability to reason, etc. We are not animals. And our lives have far more relevance and importance than that of any animal.
