Animal-friendly Ugg-substitutes?!

Question:

Animal-friendly Ugg-substitutes?

I'm a vegetarian and against buying leather, suede, sheepskin - dead animal parts in general, but I really want a pair of Ugg-like boots. Does anyone know where to find a synthetic substitute?

Answers:
I have done lots of research myself this year and I was not able to find the exact flat looking Vegan uggs. They used to make them but not this year. This is the best I could find.

L.L. Bean makes a wide variety of fake (oh, sorry -- "faux") shearling stuff -- including, I believe, boots.

Might be a little late in the season, but worth a look.

The 'sand' color resembles Uggs. I have seen these sold at Whole Foods - they look even better in person. I drooled over them for 15 minutes until I realized they would cost my entire grocery budget. looking back, it might have been worth it.

Uggs are Ugggggly!

And if youre gonna go through all this trouble, why not just walk around barefoot? Even if its not made from animal material...they have something to do with animals in some way..

Well, I have boots that are better. They have leather but not sheepskin, because sheepskin and fur scare me. They are sonomas.

These websites have tons of vegan shoes, although most are not like uggs:

Most of the shoes above are not like uggs, but some are and none of them are made from even leather! (a major improvement on ilovehedgie's suggestion)
