Is maple syrup processed with lard?!

Question:

Is maple syrup processed with lard?

Answers:
Unfortunately in some cases producers will use things like lard to help prevent sugar crystals from forming on their equipment!

No. After the sap is dripped from the tree, the sap is then and processed cooked into the syrup.

You must check with the company directly by calling them. Some might use lard but in most cases they use vegetable/olive oil.

I was reading the Idiot's Guide to Vegan Living recently. Apparently they used to use lard to clarify maple syrup. But this is rarely ever done now.

Maple syrup can be treated with a very small amount of animal fat, butter, or cream to reduce foaming. Most modern producers use synthetic compounds in order to reduce foaming during production. It is typically vegan. Spring Tree, Maple Groves, and Holsum Foods all report that their maple syrups do not use an animal-derived defoaming agent.
