Are most vegetarians one minded?!
Are most vegetarians one minded?
Ive noticed here that when someone talks about how we are able to eat meat or the fact that we can eat meat and plants that you all seem to give the thumbs down or tell us all that we are going to burn in hell because we eat meat(a couple vegatarians at our school call meat eaters hellridden pigs ive seen a few here but not many)and im pretty sure that not all livestock farms tourture their animals or are cruel to them
it just seems to me that you all like to funnel answers to your liking

Ammie said it very well, I totally agree with her.
There are many meat eaters who come here to V&V only to make fun of veg'ans, pure and simple. Many ignorant meat eaters think they're being cute by posting bad jokes, only to get negative responses from veg'ans. Well, what the hell do they expect??? COME OOOON. You don't see veg'ans going into the other areas of V&V and making fun of meat eaters there. At least I've never seen it, and yes, I do peek into the other areas.
I've never scolded anyone or made fun of them simply because they decide to consume flesh. Yes, I got upset because some decided that they'd call themselves "vegetarians" when they admitted to eating fish, and some, even chicken. (That ain't veg!) If you eat flesh of any kind, you ain't veg, pure and simple, so let's not go for the veggie clout without actually being veg. I didn't care if they consumed flesh, that's their business. But they can't call themselves veg, that's all. Let's not 1) LIE 2) go for the clout without earning it, and 3) confuse the masses. Chicken/fish aint' veg!
Btw, someone once got grossed out because I use the word "flesh." Let's get real people, that's what it is, pure and simple. I ain't makin' this stuff up!
As for being one-minded, I personally choose veganism not because of one reason, but because of many. Here, I'll share it, and you tell me if this is one-minded or not:

Well I think your confusing vegs.with animal rights. Many vegitarians I know react positively with the meat lovers and in fact dine together.Sure some may'be vehement in thier choice. However they are in the vast minority
Not so the animal rights group. They behave like vigilantes.
I am a vegetarian, and I have never scolded anyone for being a "hellridden pig" or anything of that nature merely for their choice of diet. Honestly, the whole animal rights movement isn't something I fully support. I, personally, choose not to eat meat because I can't stand the way it tastes or the texture because I have an extremely heightened sense of taste. But anyway, friends of mine who have also claimed to be vegetarian weren't obnoxious about their choice vs. the average meat-eating consumer either. Actually it's quite the contrary; I find that I myself am constantly being criticized for being a vegetarian and it's the meat-eaters that can seem "one minded". It really doesn't bother me that anyone eats meat, that's their decision and I fully respect it, I just wish that others would be more willing to accept my own choices.
I have found, after going vegetarian, that many meat eaters have been the close-minded ones towards me. I've been made fun of, told I was being stupid, going to get sick, and called many names because of my decision. I've been harassed about how stupid/wrong/unhealthy what I am doing is by people who know nothing about it.
And, of course, when you come into the vegetarian/vegan section and talk about eating meat you are going to get negative responses. This section is not about meat consumption or eating meat, and when people come here posting ignorant/insulting answers to people's questions I'm sure it does make people upset.
Also, the meat you buy in the super market comes from large scale factory farms, and yes even their standard practices would be considered cruel (veal crates, battery cages, etc.) However, the rules that are in place to insure "humane" treatment of animals are limited/virtually non-existent, and the ones that are in place are often violated. Check out the links for more information/statistics concerning this (all the statistics/facts in the article on the website are cited.)
This usually occurs in the form of self defense. Omni's come in here and like to stir things and cause trouble. I have not noticed anyone saying anything about burning in hell and I read often in here.
There are some militant vegetarians out there who like to act self-righteous, unfortunately. I never do that, but I've been on the receiving end of a lot of scorn from meat-eaters for some reason. Why they care about what I eat, I have no idea. The point is that it goes both ways.
"it just seems to me that you all like to funnel answers to your liking"
Well let's face it this is the vegetarians and vegans category, and I imagine it's designed for us vegetarians to ask each other questions about our diet and lifestyle. I don't know why a meat-eater would come in here to ask or answer questions.
