Cow treatment & destiny?!
Cow treatment & destiny?
a friend who is a recent vegetarian convert is being grilled by her other friends about how animals are treated (especially dairy cows and where they go when their production drops.) The only info I can find on the internet is from pro-veggie groups and I know skeptics won't believe it. Is there any source of believable no-nonsense info about these matters?
Answers:
Are you trying to help her from being grilled?
The best thing I can think of is mentioning that those who know how animals are treated, and choose to participate in all the ways in which they are tortured, can hush.
At least your vegetarian friend is doing her part in following her beliefs.
The concept of *if you can't be 100% you may as wall be 0 percent" is absurd. Does that mean if you can't end global warming you should personally cut down as much of the rainforest as possible?
If a person is aware of his/her beliefs, and works toward following those beliefs, kudos to them.
So, if you wish to defend your friend, tell people to lay off. Your friend doesn't tell them what to do, and they should not tell your friend what to do.
People have to work toward any belief. You cannot decide to be Christian/Buddhist in a day and be a perfect example of that religion. You have to work toward it.
Any person trying to work toward a belief should get a little respect.
I think I just ranted; sorry.
:)
her "friends" that are grilling her are not really interested in an answer, they just want to piss her off because deep down they're guilty about not being vegetarian.
Go to PETA's website - I know they are radical and In your face - but there is plenty of info about cows and their fate.
Not really, because the only people who really care are animal liberation groups like Peta. There aren't any sites saying 'animals aren't abused in the majority of farms for the majority of animals', even though it's true, because thats what most people believe and there's no point.
The only people who write about these things are people like Peta, who are a propaganda group who will say anything, albeit exaggeration or lies, to stop people eating meat.
I'm sure there are more trustworthy sites, but you'll be hard pushed to find them because most are pro-veggie sites, like Peta, or on he flip side anti-veggie sites, like consumerfreedom.
