ME!!!!

Vegetarian = no meat and fish is meat so no.

I don't consider it vegetarian.
But, I know a lot of people who say they are vegetarian who eat fish.

Don't eat the fish, it's not vegetarian, and at the rate people are eating fish, they will all be gone in 50 years.

Well a vegitarian doesn't eat meat. A fish is made of meat. So do not eat fish.

no man, but it sounds liek yoiu're goning to eat it anyways
salmons are not good for your health

It depends how strict you are. Some vegetarians allow themselves to eat certain animal products, like milk eggs, and sometimes fish. So yes, you may eat fish, if you want to.

Some vegetarians do eat fish and sometimes even chicken. They do not eat RED meat. It is a personal choice. If you are vegan, then you do not eat fish.

There are many different categories of vegetarianism. (and many people aregue with this point of view...I'm not saying I believe it, but I'm writing to answer the question).
If you eat fish you are a pesca-vegetarian.
If you eat eggs you are an ovo-vegetarian.
If you eat dairy you are a lacto-vegetarian.
Now, the aforementioned vegetarians would not eat red meat, chicken, turkey, game, lamb, etc. That is, they are vegetarian in all other aspects besides eating fish or eggs or dairy.
Strict vegetarians would say that you cannot eat fish and consider yourself a veggie. If it has a face or a mother, it is an animal and is off limits.
On the other hand, some pesca-vegetarians continue to eat fish (especially the cold water varitey) because of the protein and fatty oils that are good for the body.
I hope that helps!

p.s. if you do eat the salmon, make sure it's wild!

Only strict Vegans don't eat fish, dairy. I know many Vegetarians that will eat fish.

You can eat whatever you want - it depends on how "hardcore" of a vegetarian you are. I am a vegetarian, but I eat fish. Some people don't eat eggs - I say eat what you l;ike and pass on what you don't. Salmon is good for you - so.....

no, fish are living creatures too.

absolutely you can.alot of vegitarians eat fish.so go for it.I am not big on eating meat either.I admitt that the only meat i like is ground turkey fried with seasoning and peppers and veggies.tastes good. my friends jokingly call me a partial vegitarian.so go have fish.it is also good for ya too.

This should be based on why you decided to quit eating meat. If your reason was for cruelty to animals, then I would not suggest you eat fish being that they are a living creature too. If you just don't like how long it takes for meat to digest and want to replace meat with vegetables, go ahead and knock yourself out with the salmon. I don't eat any meat, just seafood. There's a reason why seafood is called seafood....cause it's not meat.

vegetarian is if you dont eat animals. A fish is an animal. It doesnt photosynthesize, it has eyes, it moves, its an animal, it is not for vegetarians.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
I don't know how many times this has been covered! Did you even search the site before you asked this question. It must be the most asked question on here.
for the last time - VEGETARIANS DO NOT EAT FISH. THEY DO NOT EAT ANYTHING WHICH USED TO BE ALIVE, OR ANY DEAD ANIMAL BY-PRODUCT.
DAIRY FINE. FISH NOT FINE.
GOT IT?
There is clearly mass confusion on this. I can't believe how many people will state that it's only vegans who don't eat fish!

I know some vegetarians who DO eat fish and they're fine with it. It's just that they don't eat any meat. But it also depends on the person themselves. It's your choice of whether or not you want to eat fish.

It really depends on your definition of a vegitarian. Some vegitarians do include eggs, and dairy. Some allow for poultry. If you are considering being a vegan, then you stay away from any thing that is not made of plant cells. Of course you need to make sure that you are not just eating foods that are lacking in their sources of nutrition. I don't want to spam, but I will mention that I have a playlist on You Tube named Going Nuts. It's a seminar by Jeff Novick, which is very informative in regards to what is healthy, and what's not as healthy as we thought. He is a practicing Vegan by the way, so you won't be dissapointed.

Yes, I know a lot of vegetarians that eat seafood. there are different degrees of vegetarians. It only the Vegan that eats no meat of bi products of meat

Vegetarians do not eat animals. In the past few years, some people got this crazy idea that fish are plants. Some people who like to *call themselves* vegetarians eat fish, but that is because they are misinformed and/or lazy and/or just plain missing some vital aspect to their brains.... but they are not vegetarians.

You can eat the fish, but you would not be any sort of vegetarian because the whole principal and point of vegetarianism is being a group of people who do not put the flesh of the dead in their bodies.

This is not being a *strict* vegetarian, this is not being a *hardcore* vegetarian....

This is being a vege-tarian.... one who consumes vegetation.

When people call themselves vegetarians and eat animals, they are not respected/accepted by actual vegetarians. They are called hypocrites (by veggie and meat eaters), and rightly so.

Vegetarians get so angry because fake vegetarians (those who eat any kind of animal) make life difficult for them by spreading confusion and misinformation.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
And remember
vegetarian = no dead animals

To Tammi C:
Anyone who consumes flesh, and fish is flesh, is not a vegetarian.

To those who are confused, and there are lots who are:
Some people are totally confused. "I'm a semi-vegetarian" or "I'm a vegetarian but still eat fish" or "I'm veg but still eat chicken".... people who fall into these categories are NOT, I REPEAT, NOT VEGETARIANS. Anyone who eats ANY kind of flesh, from ANY kind of animal, is not a vegetarian. Those who eat flesh only from fish are called pescatarians. Those who are "part time" vegetarians are NOT vegetarians AT ALL. They just don't eat meat every day, that's all.

Let's get it right, people. "Semi-vegetarian" and "fish-eating vegetarian" and "chicken-eating vegetarian" sounds reallyyyyyyyy stupid. Fish is meat. Chicken is meat. Anything from the flesh of an animal, whether they lived on land, in the air, or in the sea, is MEAT. 8^B 8^B 8^B 8^B

Again, and I think people need reinforcement... anyone who eats no meat except for that of fish, is NOT A VEGETARIAN. They are PESCATARIAN. PESCATARIAN. PESCATARIAN. There is NO SUCH THING as a flesh-eating vegetarian. That defeats the whole purpose, a-duhhhh!!!. It's either/or, pure and simple.

Look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls!

To Tammi C again:
If you're a vegetarian or otherwise, you can eat whatever you want. However, if you eat flesh, any flesh, even fish, then you're no longer a vegetarian.

Vegetarians do not eat meat of any kind.

While there are people out there who call themselves vegetarian and eat fish, they are not vegetarian and the global Vegetarian community does not like that they call themselves vegetarian.

It's very confusing to the public. Your average Joe is told by well meaning friends that vegetarians DO eat fish, so he cooks up a nice salmon dinner for a girl he likes who is vegetarian. He's slaved all day over this. She shows up and eats bread and butter. He's heart broken.

It really sucks for us real vegetarians.

a lot of vegetarians eat fish. if your doing it for the sake of saving animals, DON'T EAT THEM!!!! they have feelings to. when they re caught its a bad death. the get caught in nets flopping around together out of water until the die cause they are so dehydrated. its like why not eat a seal :(

yes you can eat fish. fish have no soul and they only operate on strict instinct. they have neither personalities nor sentient minds therefor they fall into the vegetable class. take salmon for instance....if they even had an inkling of intelligence, they would not swim past the gauntlet of grizzly bears each year when they spawn. and fish are very healthy to eat, and quite delicious i might add.

a vegetarian can eat ANYTHING he\she wants, but if that happens to be meat, he\she can no longer call him\herself a vegetarian.

This is dumb. If you want to eat fish go ahead and do so.
But don't call yourself a vegetarian!!!!!!!

im a vegetarian and i dont eat any meat including fish
which IS an animal

Only you can eat fish,, youy get to be the only vegitarian that gets to eat fish,, but make sure there heavily breaded and deep fryed before you eat them,, or it's still considered meat

Eat whatever the hell you want, but if you eat sea animals you sure as hell better not call yourself a vegetarian

Noooo silly. If it has a brain you can't eat it. THats how I feel. Some people say sure. But it still has to be killed for you to eat it. And as a vegan I say its definitely wrong. Don't eat it.

"I know some vegetarians who DO eat fish and they're fine with it. It's just that they don't eat any meat."

What part of "FISH IS MEAT" is it that some vegetarians don't understand? Makes me wonder if being a vegetarian causes brain damage because some vegetarians don't seem able to understand simple facts.
