Why do vegetarians hate meat eaters so much?
all the answers i read in a previously asked question concerning vegetarians seemed to me like there is a great deal of uncharitible feeling directed against both sides from the other. all this talk about vegetarians being more compassionate appeared to be a bunch of bull, no pun intended. i saw some fairly vicious comments from so-called compassionate vegetarians. my own opinion is eat what you want to eat and DONT condemn others for their personal choice. The God who gave us vegetables for food is the same God who also gave us meat for food. i see no harm in a vegetarian diet as long as nutritional needs are met, the same as i see no harm in eating meat. if cholesterol and fat cause problems, then one should take a hard look at the AMOUNT of meat in a particular diet. anything in excess is bad for you. in my opinion, a healthy diet can include lots of veggies AND a moderate amount of meat or animal derived protien. but what one choses to eat is just that, one's own personal choice.
Answers:
i personally dont. sorry you had to encounter people like that. my family and boyfriend eat meat, A LOT, but i respect that and dont try to influence my ways on them.
its a choice, and people should respect you for your choice as you might respect us for eating veggies.
sorry for the inconvenience but we are not all alike, just close minded people
sometimes they just dont like the taste of the meat
Even though i am not a personal vegetarian now, I suppose that they just don't like people who have anything to do with the wrongful death of many animals.
i am vegetarian, but i don't hate non vegetarians.
Because they probably view them as insensitive or disgusting like how you would think its kind of disgusting if the news reports a grown man skulking around and eating babies all the time, and theres a warrant for his arrest. Anyways im a meat eater and i think vegetarians are silly for that, animals in nature hunt chase down and kill other animals and their young for food, its completely natural to eat meat.
They are angry with themselves for having an unnatural tendency or phobia. This anger is transferred to normal omnivores. Not all vegetarians are angry. some just don't care for meat. The angry ones are the ones that have issues with animal treatment and are environmental wackos.
Everyone does have a choice not all are like that just the ones who wants you to become them but you stay with what you want that is what makes you, you
I see what you mean, my girlfriend is veggie but she doesn't moan about me chomping on animals.
I admit freely that I eat veggie stuff when around her but thats because I don't want her to kiss an animal ridden mouth. If we aren't eating together or meeting up later then I'll chew any creature lol
It's my own choice, she thinks I should eat what I want.
I totally agree with you! What do other animals eat? Some are herbivores and some are carnivores. That's the way it is. Same with humans. Man has been eating meat since the caveman days. It's called a food chain. Don't jugde a person just because they like meat or vice versa. ;o)
Well. its actually quite obvious really. Its only because there almost VS thing if ya know what I mean(Like Republican vs Democratic). But they can still love each other but I bet they perfer not to.
The lack of meat in their system gives them a brain disorder that causes said reaction.
It is really bad in Vegans.
As a lifelong vegetarian, I agree with many of your comments but I don't agree with your question. I have never 'hated' meat eaters. Mostly, I feel compassion for them and a bit of pity and concern for their well being, too. We, on this small planet, are all on a different plane of existence in our lives and we reach certain levels at different times. We all should offer more patience to each other.
Thanks for your comments and your question. The more we discuss these issues the more we will think about them and contemplate our choices in life.
I don't hate meat eaters, but many meat eaters here have shown their ugly sides. It goes both ways. We veg'ans are made fun of here in the V&V section, which is kinda ridiculous. I don't see any veg'ans making fun of meat eaters in the other food sections.
God put food on this planet for us to eat. He gave us dominion over animals, yes, but dominion is not tyranny. Since we're the most powerful creatures on Earth, it is our moral responsibility to TAKE CARE OF all other creatures, great and small. We're to show animals the MOST KINDNESS, since they are defenseless against us. (with weapons I mean, mano a mano we'd lose)
Taking care of and showing most kindness is a long shot from factory farming. That's cruel, torturous exploitation. That's GREED. If animals are mistreated in ANY WAY, then yes, using them for food is wrong. If you think about it, would killing them in their prime be taking good care of them, showing them most kindness? Nope. All that is, is feeding our greedy bellies and feeding the pocketbooks of factory farmers.
There is no dietary need for meat or animal products, ALL of our dietary needs can very well be met eating plants. So keeping animals in these hell holes aka factory farms is completely unnecessary, and so is killing them. Factory farms are the shame of humanity.
People who refuse to look at the torture of factory farms are consciously ignoring the horror. I don't understand how anyone can ignore this. If it's too hard to look at, force yourself.
Well stated. But you forget that the tree hugging, whale saving, vegan libertarians will say we are destroying mother earth from overgrazing and causing erosion and too much waste, they hate because they feel they've graduated to a higher education and us carnivores are ignorant.America was built on freedom of choice. We should be able to live as we want to live, and that goes for what we eat. Also, some of same people who want to save the whales are the ones marching for pro-choice........think about that!
Well, as a vegan, I'll just give you my two cents on the matter.
I try not to get angry at people just for eating meat. It does piss me off on the inside that they're killing animals when they don't need to, but I realize that they don't realize what they're doing is wrong. I basically try to keep my mouth shut.
But when people make fun of vegetarians/vegans, that pisses me off! It happens REALLY OFTEN that a meat eater will merely hear that I'm a vegan and then they'll launch into a rant on how unhealthy it is or how I can't eat anything or they'll tell me a HILARIOUS joke (vegetarian means bad hunter! LOLOLOL!).
There's a lot of prejudice against vegetarians, and sometimes it makes me a bit edgy around meat-eaters, but as long as they're cool with me, I'm not going to tell them what to eat.
Unless I bake a batch of delicious vegan chocolate chip cookies. Then I'll tell them to eat one! LOLOL!
I'm a quasi-vegetarian. I don't like chunks of meat. Broth or ground is OK. I can't stand pure meat-eaters who want to shove a steak down my throat because I'm not healthy. I just don't like it, I don't have beliefs either way, I just don't care for it! When I go out to eat, the meat-eaters are asking why I'm eating something without meat, and I explain over and over that I don't like gnawing on meat. I just don't like the texture.
i believe that vegetarians hate meat eaters so much just because we go against every thing that they are for. such as not eating meat. seeing that they dont eat meat, its like someone saying i like reading. that makes you automatically assume that that person is a nerd and you would rather not associate with them because you do not follow the same concept/ enjoy that as much as them
Just because I don't agree with your opinion doesn't mean I hate you.
I've been veg for 14 years. I don't know of a single person in the veg community, in real life or online, who hates meat eaters. So while you call US judgemental, it seems YOU are being judgemental.
I've been subject to personal attacks by meat eaters. I don't hate them. I feel sorry for them. I know their love of meat is killing them. And their children. I know some day people will look on meat like they look on cigarettes and wonder who anyone could "love" such a thing.
If you were a cannibal could you just get annoyed at people for insulting your fellow cannibals? Of course they can hate meat eaters, they dont like the idea of killers
I agree with you that from a health perspective, moderate amounts of meat are OK. However health is not the only basis for vegetarianism. I don't see the logic in "the same God who gave us veggies gave us meat". That is your opinion but you have no more knowledge of God's intentions than anyone else. Just because something is edible doesn't mean it should be eaten. I believe that as rational humans beings, we should also be ethical.
It's not that I hate meat eaters. I just get annoyed by immature comments.
Most Vegetarians despise Carnivores or Omnivores for simply not being an herbivore, but besides that it comes from different philosophies of the sanctity of life, health and religion in some cases it's because vegetarians think meat eaters are too pig headed (pun so very intended) to beleive that meat could ever possibly be bad for you
on a side note there is a completed Study which flat out says that a diet even moderate in protein consumption will increase your risk of Cancer, the Book is Called The China study
Plus also on another side people will choose to beleive what they want to beleive, and will find evidence to back up what they want to beleive, so they can be excused for doing what they already are. Humans regardless of philosophies or cognitive abilities are Morons and cannot see eye to eye ever.
Gosh, why don't you people just leave us alone.
Yes, yes, eat your cow; yum, yum. Whatever gets you through the day.
People are individuals; some are jerks; some are kind.
There are 98% of you and 2% of us. Do you really think it is you who has to deal with hateful people constantly butting-in on your beliefs?
I choose to not kill for my dinner, even if "god" says it's ok, simply because I do not *need* to kill for my dinner. Why choose to harm when I can choose to not harm? If that makes meat-eaters insecure enough to veggie-bash, that is their concern. I like who I am.
You do not have to explain your life choices just as we should not have to explain ours.
I don't know what gave you that idea. All of my friends are carnivores. Even if I'm a vegetarian I don't care!
Well, you have to realize that not all Vegetarians hate people who eat animals.... I'm a vegetarian, and I def don't hate people who eat (harmless, loving) animals... It does get on my nerves when people who eat meat ask me 20 questions about why, and try to make me eat it.. It gets quite frustrating... Also, The reason that I am a vegetarian is because ive seen what they do to animals before butchering them.. and trust me.. its NOT pretty.... what these people do to these animals is not human, I dont see how anyone could do such things as.. hanging a pig by its feet and beating its head in with a hammer... while they laugh.. or, cut the beak off of a chicken.. and let it run around for hours... or kick and beat a cow til unconsciousness.. It seriously makes me cry... If you love animals, and you eat meat.. THATS FINE... but just watch this....

I`m a vegetarian and I don`t hate meat eaters. But some do because they dislike anyone who wrongfully harms/kills animals.
God didn't give us meat for food, animals were here before us. I don't really hate meat eaters, I just don't like the way they taste and their much higher in cholesterol than vegetarians. Seriously now, I don't look down on carnivores, I just don't agree with their eating habits because of how the animals are treated. They know what pain is too and it's not the painless death most think it is if they even care. I still go to steakhouses sometimes if that's where my group wants to go for dinner. I don't eat the meat and think of what it went through to get on the plate. Not all vegetarians hate carnivores, if they do, they must be shallow, lonely people.
I know what you mean! Some people on here attatcked my question about meat one time, when I was just uneducated and my opinion was wrong compared to theirs. it made me feel bad! now dont get me wrong, i know some meat eaters who hate twoard the veggies! it can go either way but i think we should respect eachthother.

It goes both ways it just depends on the person.
im a vegetarian but i don't hate/dislike meat-eaters
