Are bbq heinz beans veggie?!

Question:

Are bbq heinz beans veggie?

Above, are they suitable for veggies?

Answers:
yes (though not a great one)
they are a good source of nutrients and fibre
but they have loads of sugar, salt and other chemicals
fresh vegetables are really the best

NO, they are suitable for a protein though. Beans are lentils not vegetables.

what does it say on the tin? if it says "suitable for vegetarian" you're sorted

Beans aren't really considered vegetables. They generally fall in the meats group (proteins). Check out my pyramid.gov for some good information about food groups and healthy suggestions.

BBQ Heinz beans are made using pork fat. Beans are a good source of protein and should be included in a vegetarian diet. Just be careful of canned beans and read the ingredient label.

Probably not since they sell specifically vegetarian beans. So their normal beans are not vegetarian (they probably are made with pork fat).

Do you mean baked beans? All the brands I know of say that they are vegetarian and they do not contain pork products like regular baked beans do. If it does not say vegetarian, read the back of the can.

Why people thought 'suitable for veggies' meant 'suitable as a vegetable' and not 'suitable for a vegetarian' in this category, I have no idea...

Why not check the label?

"Where can I find out what ingredients are in my favorite Heinz products?
A full list of ingredients is included in the ingredient statement on the product label. "Natural flavoring" refers to herbs and spices that are derived solely from plant sources."

Not to be rude. The ingredients might not be the same in all countries; I wouldn't necessarily trust somebody's 'yes' or 'no' here.

Try Heinz chilli style beans. Unlike their BBQ or regular style baked beans, these beans contain minimal added sugar.
