What is Harmful in Non Vegetarian Diet?!
What is Harmful in Non Vegetarian Diet?
Answers:
As more and more studies are coming up about the detrimental aspects of non vegetarian food, many people are anxious to know how they can stay healthy without giving up their favorite non vegetarian delicacies. The following points list the demerits as well as ways you can circumvent the harmful effects.
1. Non Vegetarian foods are fibreless: The roughage portion is missing in non vegetarian diets, therefore one should make a conscious effort to eat foods high in roughage. The foods high in roughage (insoluble fiber) are wheat bran, whole cereals like brown rice. Oat fiber is particularly beneficial for cardiac cholesterol related disorders. Oats have soluble fiber which dissolves in the body fluids and helps the body to decrease the cholesterol buildup.
2. Non Vegetarian foods are high in cholesterol: Since non vegetarian foods contain cholesterol, it is important to avoid other foods which can have additive affect on the cholesterol, like dairy products, particularly cheese. Besides these, one must avoid foods which have trans-fatty acids.
3. Non Vegetarian foods which are processed and preserved may contain high amounts of chemicals. Therefore, it is important to limit the quantity of non vegetarian food products which may contain preservatives.
4. Non Vegetarian foods are devoid of many vitamins. To keep up a healthy level of Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C, it is important to eat fruits and vegetables in adequate quantities to prevent any deficiency from coming up. Fruits should be eaten in their natural state and drinking packed juices is not the solution. Similar is the case with eating vegetables destroyed by deep frying beyond recognition.
5. Non vegetarians need strong digestive enzymes to be able to digest proteins. Hence, it is important to include sources of natural digestive enzymes in the diet to help the body keep its digestive capability high. Foods rich in enzymes are raw papaya (can be eaten as a salad) - rich in enzyme papain; pineapple - rich in the enzyme bromelene, and basic salads which are rich in natural enzymes.
6. Many authorities claim that people should be cautious while consuming fish found near industrial zones as they may be toxic.
7. Red meat should be consumed sparingly if you have increased incidence of hypertension and heart problems. Once a week, detox by eating fruits, sprouts, vegetable juices, salads and non-roasted nuts.
I'm not a vegetarian...so I'd have to say, us meat eaters probably have a much higher level of Cholesterol.
i'm a veggie too but 2-3 times eaten non veg too .some sort of {MILD}infection does start up but you'll recover soon the immunity needs time to adjust and otherwise no problem but non veg causes more food poisining,, difficult to cope with for first timers.
is that what you wanted to know or----???it's fine eat it
Human teeth are meant for eating vegetarian food it is proved biologically too. Non Vegetarianism in my view makes you aggressive, intolerent and may cause health problems too. It is true the type of food we eat shall go to develope that type of wisdom alone. Vegetarians have strong immune system and more in tune with nature.Meat of an animal or a bird may carry its disease to you when you eat it.The dying animal does condemn the killer and dies in awe! This alone should desist the meat eater who need not rejoice their non vegetarian diet. If you are a religious person then it is real crime to kill an animate or a living thing for in it too resides the same lord that resides in you!
Cholestrol is a big facter when eating meat. You could get food poisoning from uncooked food. Not to mention parasites that could be present in uncooked food. If you don't have a well-balanced diet you could become obese.
Read any and all books authored by Gary and Steve Null on vegetarianism and that should tell you exactly everything that you need to know about this.
My friend, Diet is harmful after 25 years of age, whether it is veg or non-veg. We have many examples like Hira Ratan Who did not took food contin for 400days and still he was working, One lady in Ambaji villege in Gujarat ,since last 15 years she is not taking the diet and still working. There are so many exa. we have in our society.
Basically diet does not give sterenth to our body after 25 years of age.if it is ,the rich can have the best diet with kaju fruits etc. and can be the strogest person the world but u will find a poor man taking a rotty and can lift 100kg wheat which a rich man can not.
After taking breakfast in the morning at 7.00am , U need not require lunch at 12.00pm. because medical science says that it requires 3 to 4 hours to digest food.but u run for lunch a 12.00 is it n"t?
So friend, do not go in to the type of diet, but do upvas. as much u can .Which will increase your inner strength and will lead to your mind development and ultimately to your GOAL.
higher risk of cancer, heart disease, and other diseases
(mad cow disease and ammonia)
a human body can take up to level 7 ammonia
KFC's chicken contains 34....
think about that...
It not helps to digest easier. it is a heavy diet.and also detroying nature
infact non vegetarian diet is very good source of certain nutrients which vegetarian foods lack in.
but as the proverb goes" too much of anything is good for nothing", too much of non veg foods lead to cardio diseases, diabetes , obesity and other related disorders.
what generally happens is that when one have got used to non veg foods from their childhood , in future years they reach a condition where they cant even have a meal without atleast 1 non veg food, so as a result due to its ill effects at later stage they are forced to quit non veg ,
so to put in nut shell.........." ITS BETTER TO HAVE THEM IN LIMIT OR ELSE U"LL BE FORCED TO QUIT THEM COMPLETELY"...........the choice is ours.........
There is nothing harmful in taking non-vegetarian diet if you ensure the diet taken is cleaned and properly cooked. Philosophical theories forbid to us from eating non-veg food simply because we are not designed to eat non-veg food. We dont have pointed teeth to tear flesh. We dont have innards designed to digest non-veg food. Besides we dont have enough physical activites to digest non-veg food. Its also recommended not to eat raw food as it involves over functioning of stomach to digest the food. But that certainly is not going to stop me from eating raw guava, mango etc etc. There is no sin eating non-veg food. Be very sure of the facts before you form any opinion about veggie/non-veg food. Happy eating!
Nothing.
There are many benefits to a diet containing meat. Many vegetarians claim that meat is unhealthy. This is a blatant fallacy.
It is well established that eating meat improves the quality of nutrition, strengthens the immune system, promotes normal growth and development, is beneficial for day-to-day health, energy and well-being, and helps ensure optimal learning and academic performance.
A long term study found that children who eat more meat are less likely to have deficiencies than those who eat little or no meat. Kids who don’t eat meat ― and especially if they restrict other foods, as many girls are doing ― are more likely to feel tired, apathetic, unable to concentrate, are sick more often, more frequently depressed, and are the most likely to be malnourished and have stunted growth. Meat and other animal-source foods are the building blocks of healthy growth that have made America’s and Europe's youngsters the tallest, strongest and healthiest in the world.
Meat is an important source of quality nutrients, heme iron, protein, zinc and B-complex vitamins. It provides high-quality protein important for kids’ healthy growth and development.
The iron in meat (heme iron) is of high quality and well absorbed by the body, unlike nonheme iron from plants which is not well absorbed. More than 90 percent of iron consumed may be wasted when taken without some heme iron from animal sources. Substances found to inhibit nonheme iron absorption include phytates in cereals, nuts and legumes, and polyphenolics in vegetables. Symptoms of iron deficiency include fatigue, headache, irritability and decreased work performance. For young children, it can lead to impairment in general intelligence, language, motor performance and school readiness. Girls especially need iron after puberty due to blood losses, or if pregnant. Yet studies show 75 percent of teenage girls get less iron than recommended.
Meat, poultry and eggs are also good sources of absorbable zinc, a trace mineral vital for strengthening the immune system and normal growth. Deficiencies link to decreased attention, poorer problem solving and short-term memory, weakened immune system, and the inability to fight infection. While nuts and legumes contain zinc, plant fibre contains phytates that bind it into a nonabsorbable compound.
Found almost exclusively in animal products, Vitamin B12 is necessary for forming new cells. A deficiency can cause anaemia and permanent nerve damage and paralysis. The Vitimin B12 in plants isn't even bioavailable, meaning our body can't use it.
Why not buy food supplements to replace missing vitamins and minerals? Some people believe they can fill those gaps with pills, but they may be fooling themselves. Research consistently shows that real foods in a balanced diet are far superior to trying to make up deficiencies with supplements.
@ vijay k,
- No sensible vegans can contest that we were deigned to eat meat. Even most vegan scientists agree that human's are designed to eat meat, that is not in question.
Simple research into human biology reveals how we are meant to eat meat. For one thing, our body produces hydrochloric acid and meat splitting enzymes that herbivores don't produce and are solely used for the digestion of meat. There are adaptations to our teeth (not incisors, rather the size of the jaw), stomach and intestines which have made a human being very adept at meat digestion. There is nothing wrong with the way our body digests meat, and we are so adept at eating it no scientists are of any doubt we've evolved to eat it.
In contrast, there are many reasons we aren't naturally herbivores. We cannot naturally get all the nutrients we need without animal products naturally. Vitamin B12 cannot be got, even now, without animal products or supplements, and a lack of it can cause anaemia and impending death. 60% of vegans even now have some level of B12 deficiency, as opposed to no meat eaters, which says something about how well adapted we are to a vegan diet.
All other nutriets can be got natually. That owes to that vegtables can now be sold all year round, even out of season, and can be flown into the country from all over the world. In bygone times people could only eat the relatively small range of plants that grew in their ecosytem, and only when they were in season. Thus many more nutrients would have been unavailable and still more unavaillable for most of he year. Until very recently it would have been impossible for a vegan human to live naturally without dying very quickly.
Now, meat makes up for all these lost nutrients very nicely, and it really shows how we aren't naturally vegans, as until very recently it was impossible to live like that.
- Meat doesn't make you agressive or intollerant and I challenge you to give just one piece of proof that you're not just making things up.
On the other hand, 60% of vegans are estimated to have a deficiency of Vitamin B12 which, amongst other things like hair loss and aneamia, causes agressiveness and mood swings.
- Veggies are not more in tune with nature. Apart from that being the kind of broad generalisation which cannot be proven and is never justified, veggies are ignoring that it it natural to eat meat, we aren't.
@ Deb
- Unless you eat uncooked food, what you can get from it is an irrelevence.
- A person who eats loads of dietary cholesterol and leads an unhealthy lifestyle can still have low cholesterol, and vice versa. Most people's bodies are able to take a large amount of cholesterol without getting atherosclerosis. Cholesterol problems are not so much to do with diet as a problem with how your body deals with it.For this reason that eating meat gives you heart disease is very misleading, and for the most part untrue. Of course, if you do have a problem eating loads isn't a good idea, but for most people there is nothing at all to worry about.
The vast majority (80%) of people with cholesterol problems are pensioners, and coronary diseases are very rare in young people, if not unheard of. This is because young people have an excellent ability to cope with cholesterol, but as you get older you may become less able to do that, regardless of diet, in the same way the elderly cannot do lots of other things.
Again, it's not so much to do with diet - the majority of cholesterol in you is made by you - but how your body deals with it.
@ urwelcum
- There is, for example, some evidence that vegans live longer and are at less risk from cancer and heart disease, etc; however those studies show only a very marginal and insignificant difference and none of those studies have yet managed to identify meat as the only variable. Veggies are less likely to smoke, drink or eat junk food, are health conscious, and eat a wider range of fruit and veg, alkl things known to affect rates of diseases, making the test results inaccurate and unreliable.
- There have been 147 cases of mad cow disease, ever, anywhere, amongst billions who eat beef. It's not something you need to worry about.
- Ammonia isn't a disease.
If you mean aneamia then meat contains iron and B12 which are essential to our bodies, and it is a lack of these that often causes anaemia. Vegans are much more likley to be anaemic.
@ Viki
1. No one here is advertising a meat only diet, we can eat anything a veg can and fibre is generally not a problem.
2. Animal products contain tiny amounts of trans-fats. The vast majority eaten come from hygrogenated fats in veggie foods like magerine or soy products.
3. Exactly the same can be said of veg foods.
4. No one here is advertising a meat only diet, we can eat anything a veg can and we eat fruit and veg and get all the vitamins we need easily.
On the other hand, there are many vitamins which are either hard to get from veg foods (A, D) or impossible (B12).
Meat. Duh.....
