Answers:
The hot stuff is an alkaloid called Capsaicin. Capsaicin is good for health in a lot of ways:
1) helps increase metabolism
2) kills prostrate cancer cells

They are from the family capsicum and contain capsaicin. The stuff that makes them hot. Recent studies show capsaicin has a positive effect on the brain. One effect is capsaicin releases endorphins. That is why people continue to eat hot and spicy food. It releases a chemical neurotransmitter to the brain that says its hot but good, eat some more.

Jalapenos are also a good source of vitamin C, and the red ones also a good source of beta carotene (vitamin A).
You would need to eat quite a few to get enough fiber to relieve constipation, and by then, you'd have a different kind of problem at the other end of your digestive canal...

If you have a stopped up nose, jalapenos will clear that up. They also speed up metabolism, helping with weight loss, and they taste really good.

The jalape?o is a small to medium-sized chilli that is prized for the hot, burning sensation that it produces in the mouth when consumed. It is a cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum.
