How do you make.......?!

Question:

How do you make.......?

Im throwing a party for one of my friends thats a vegetarian. I want to make lasagna...but cant use meat! I need suggestions for things to substitute it with instead. A recipe would be nice?

Answers:
First, is your friend vegetarian or vegan? You do need to find out.

Then, you can search the internet by using either "vegetarian lasagne recipe" or "vegan lasagne recipe" and take your choice.

simple solution is to buy spaghetti sauce and tons of half mozerella cheese and half chedder cheese, olives and mushrooms sliced and then just layer everything between the cooked lasangna noodles, an hour before dinner stick in oven and voo ah la

Put frozen chopped spinach in with the ricotta mix. Vegetarian or not, you don't miss the meat.

I don't have a recipe but you could make the same recipe and leave out the meat. Serve meat balls or sausage on the side for those that want it.

If you are adventurous you could try using some soy protein in place of the meat. You can get this at a health food store or maybe an Asian market.

Hi there, I am a vegetarian who is known by meat eaters for making an awesome vegetarian lasagna that you wouldn't believe is vegetarian. The secret ingredient is called Ground Round, a soy faux-ground beef made by Yves, you will find it in the fridge vegetarian or produce section. This stuff is awesome in sauces, just use this in place of your ground meat and everyone can eat the same thing, easy peasy!
Yves has a store locator on their website as well as easy vegetarian recipes including one for lasagna, http://www.yvesveggie.com/splash.php...

I'm sure your veg guest will be impressed with your thoughtfulness ;-)

I would carmalize some broccoli and then add sauted zucchini and mushrooms just to bulk it up some. It helps the sauce seem more filling. And the flavors are amazing.

what about a meat substitute? like smart life? they have the best substitute meat at trader joes and whole foods....even ralphs has some good ones. qourn is also very good. other than that, i would use mushrooms and spinach. blended with the ricotta

use meat but don't tell him is meat, tell him is fake meat
that's what I do when i cook for vegans, they all love my cooking

I like using meat juice in rice, they all lick the bowl ha ha

Just leave out the meat and substitute with veggies. It's very tasty and perfectly acceptable. Spinach is good because it makes a good foil against the richness of the cheese and the acidity of the sauce.

Eggplant and zucchini are good substitutes for meat in lasagne.

I assume you know how to make basic lasagne.

Make a meat sauce using tofu instead of meat! Layer that between your noodles. Sliced zucchini, diced tomato. Avoid canned or frozen spinach (which is suggested above) because it's just too highly processed and devoid of nutrients.

Tofu is already cooked. So toss it in last. Use Medium tofu. It crumbles up nicely.

There are meat alternatives like Gimme Lean but they have a lot of chemicals in them which give people headaches. Tofu is simple.
