Why does PETA try to force it's radical views on others?
They actually believe people should not own any animals as pets and that see eye dogs should be abolished. And Heaven forbid if someone should try to deny me my steak or pork chop!!!
Answers:
PETA has stepped over the line and into the radical, terrorist realm of reality. Sadly, their original intent was to protect animals from cruelty and preserve life. Their organization has been hyjacked by the radicals and militants and they have no problem flexing their somewhat whimpy muscles politically or otherwise. Does any sane person really believe that dogs and cats have EQUAL rights under our rule of law? Insane.
The biggest irony is that hunters are now the leading force behind animal preservation, protection and control. If PETA could only shed itself of the militant forces that control it they could form a strong alliance with sportsmen, hunters and probably most thinking Americans to protect and care for our wildlife.
Well if their really serious about it, they believe that having an animal as a pet, or as they put it, "in captivity", is wrong. They are vegetarians who try to get as many others to go vegetarian too, by whatever means necessary.
Hope it Helped, :-)
They're just very passionate about leaving animals in the wild where they came from.
Evolutionarily speaking, humans were never built to be purely vegetarian. We were built to be omnivorous, meaning we eat both vegetation and animals.
Okay, first of all, PETA is not against pets considering they own pets themselves and at the headquarters, you bring your pet to work everyday. PETA prefers to call them "companion animals" because they feel that they are companions, not animals owned by us. Which they are companions, that's common sense.
Not everyone in PETA is against seeing eye dogs. I am in PETA and by no means am I against seeing eye dogs. I think they are wonderful, as long as they are treated properly and serve as a companion as well.
Not everyone in PETA forces their beliefs on others. You need to stop stereotyping before you go and post this on a vegetarian and vegan forum.
they are not trying to deny you something.
they are trying to save the animals from being enslaved and killed.
abolitionists forced their 'radical' views on slaveholders, too
but they were having the interests of the slaves at heart
just as peta feels animals are essentially equal to humans.
Because that's what ALL terrorist organizations do......The best defense is to exercise your rights as often as possible.
We've made it without the Passenger Pigeon or the Dodo Bird....What's the big deal!?
They just can't stand to see PEOPLE EATING TASTY ANIMALS
I am a member of PETA and I just want to help you understand what your saying. They believe animals like dogs and cats and other domesticated animals otherwise known as "companion animals" should be pets and they encourage it on their website. See eye dogs are not exactly looked down on by PETA either it's just the way they're forced to learn so quickly. If you knew anything about PETA then you would know that a lot of members are vegetarians because of the conditions and trauma animals have to go through before they die. We don't deny you your steak or pork chop but we sure like to give you suggestions. (friendly as possible ones at that!!!)
They don't have commercials and they don't knock on doors so how exactly are they forcing anything on you?
PETA makes me sick. They are just a bunch of wackos that the rest of us should just ignore.
PETA is a non-profit organization. As such, it is required to have a statement of purpose and theirs is to promote the ethical treatment of animals.
There are many definitions of the word force but I assume you are using one similar to: to cause to do through pressure or necessity, by physical, moral or intellectual means.
If that's the case, the answer to your question is basically that they are trying to force their views on others because they are legally required to since it is the basis for their existence as a non-profit organization.
i cannot recall a time that PETA has tried to enforce their views on me. unless you do something to insight their anger, they'll pretty much leave you alone to enjoy your dead animal carcass.
Well... some people who are a part of PETA truly do it because there is a need to realize that animals are living creatures who feel pain just as you and I. So when animals are mistreated they step in to bring an awareness to a cause that really does need a lot of attention. Factory Farming is one of my main concerns. Even if you do eat meat the conditions are not suitable for animals. If you dispute that just realize that these animals live in unhealthy conditions which ultimately means you are a consumer of meat that is diseased. So not only is it unhealthy for the animal it is unhealthy for you.
As for their reputation it is definitely one that is clouded by extremist actions. Me, I once helped update a website for a group named ALT for a short period of time. They had me updating meetings and what not. One of their protest consisted of following workers of a place that did animal testing to their homes and protesting there. I disagreed with some of the things that they were doing. Some of the things they did tried to bring awareness to the public about the inhumane treatment of animals. It's unfortunate that some people take such a militant stance that they actual push people away.
Me, I am my own activist. I choose not to be part of a group but, I do strike up conversations as to why a choose the life style that I lead. If people think that there is an ounce of honesty they may not change their life style but, they will definitely listen.
I haven't heard about the "seeing eye dog" dispute. I think that is going a little too far. Dogs are animals that crave praise. Some of them have been specifically bred to be work dogs. That becomes instinctual to them to work. Even though the training is short and intense you have to figure we require training from age 5 until whatever time it is that we decide to stop our schooling. If the training is not cruel (i.e. they hit the dog or deprive it of its basic needs food, water, shelter, love) then I think that need to help a person who lives with out sight is greater than the concern for the animal. If the dog is deprived of those fundamental things then I would consider that abuse and would no longer condone the training.
As far as non-profit organization there are a lot of places that claim to be a non-profit. I find it rather immorral that in their quest to save animals they sell SEX. What I mean by that is that by having people pose nude for their calendars using slogans to soften the fact that they are using SEX appeal to sell things really makes me angry. I think that sexuality is a natural however, it's being used to make a profit. You have some one preaching moral behavior then this. Sure they'll scream it is in the name of saving animals but, they are making a buck. I would be totally ok with it if I knew that 100% of the money was going towards saving animals but, like every other place they have to be profitable to be in business.
I don't agree with most of what PETA does. I think there's bigger animal concerns to be passionate about than how a chicken dies. How about puppy mills and brokers? At any rate, PETA doesn't force their views unless you let them. It's America, thank god, we're a free country to do mostly as we please. Ignore them, or better yet, all PETA haters can get together and flood their mailboxes with videos of people eating meat. Quit trying to start a fight to get attention, ya whiner.
Why do meat-eaters try to force their radical views on others in the vegan and vegetarian section?
For that matter, why does anyone try to FORCE their views on anyone else?
Most people believe that how they think is correct, otherwise, why think like that? Many people are very convinced of their views and really want to educate others. Others, of course, say "believe what I believe, or die!"
Peta makes some very valid points--- and also tends to be extreme about some others. As with everything, it is important to be able to take what is good or applicable to your life, and leave the rest. In other words, like the old saying goes---"Do not throw out the baby with the bath water."
If you choose to eat steak and pork, it is your choice. But at least have the courage to learn how that piece of 'meat' comes to your table. As thinking human beings, we need to see the consequences of our actions--- whether is is how our over-consumption of oil impacts our environment, what factory farming is like, the effects of meat consumption on our personal health and the health of our planet, and, for that matter, all the other things we thoughtlessly do.
THEN you can make your choices with knowledge.
I just have to say that I think the above poster's answer was extremely well said - everyone should take those views on board.
