Why can't you get in water after you eat?
Answers:
It is supposed to cause cramping in your muscles, which could lead to drowning. Studies have shown that this is simply a myth so I wouldn't worry about it.
must be you, becuase I can. I drink a lot of water after i eat so i can flush it right back out
I don't know how to explain it technically, but, supposedly, it causes cramps in your tummy.
It's a myth not to be believed.
What is that?
Swimming isn't so dangerous after eating ? but use common sense.
The old caveat, "Don't go swimming for one hour after eating," is borderline mythology ? an old wives' tale ? folk medicine. There is nothing magical about water that gives a sated person stomach cramps.
I'm going to put a little disclaimer on the myth theory ...
for the avg person there is no harm going into the water after eating, especially if it's a normal amt of food.
However, if you eat a lot of food and then get super active (as in any other sport) you will get cramping. You can't have a big lunch and then go do laps across the pool (not that you'd want to) but the same holds true if you ate a big lunch and tried to go jogging ... you'd probably get cramps trying that ... it's just a common sense thing
if you start to feel uncomfortable ... rest or get out of the pool !!!
Taking a glass of water just after meals makes it pass out immediately. However, getting inside water for a swim or bath will make your concentration go elsewhere so digestion would be a problem.
because u haven't entirely digested Ur meal so if u go in the water the more chances u have 2 drown.
you might cramp. would you run a race after a full meal?
You can do whatever you want, but there is an old wives tale that says that swimming within one half hour of eating will cause a cramp in your stomach, disabling your ability to swim. It has not proven to be entirely true in my experience.
that never stopped me
