Can a vegetarian use leather goods?
As we know leather comes from skin of dead animals. When person don't eat meat of dead animal why one should use the product like wallet, shoes, belt which is made by skin of the dead animals? that should be such a hippocrate for this person.
So do agree that use of leather goods is OK for vegetarian or a vegetarian person should avoid of use of leather.
If so, why?
Answers:
The term "vegetarian" is just about diet, so yes they can wear all the leather they like and it won't make them not a vegetarian. But generally I dont think people who are veggies for ethical reasons would wear it- I certainly don't- but I'm hesitant to apply the word "hypocrite". People just do what they can, and sometimes they draw a line in an illogical place. But every little bit helps. Better to be veggie and wear leather, than think "well i'm being a hypocrite, may as well just eat cow too"
i think it equals but they would probably argue that because the animal was dead it doesnt count as killing it. i agree though it is a bit hypocritical.
if you want to
some vegetarians dont eat meat because of their health. vegans dont use or eat any animal related products.
A vegetarian could eat only vegetarian food because he is convinced this is the best food for him. Leather and killing anyimals may have nothing to do with it.
Great question! Definitely something to think about.
I do not purchase leather goods or use products that are tested on animals. I think if you are a vegetarian because you are concerned for animals then you should be consistent. However, sometimes people start off by eliminating meat from their diet and then their committment to animal rights/welfare grows into other areas such as animal products, etc.
i would NEVER wear leather, but i suppose some people would argue that because you're not eating it, it's ok. of course it isn't, but people become veggies for different reasons and may not care as much as others.
when i become a vegen, I had a 50$ wallet with alot of money in it, I throw out the wallet and my belt, it's got nothing to do with leather, my leather wallet might be made out of fake leather for all i care, I use a rubberband to tie my drivers licence and credit card and cash, people laugh at it when they see it, I don't care, I have money, I don't care what you think, I do what I want, is my brain, my money, my ideals, my life.
as for other vegetrains they can do whatever they want, it depends on them, not you.,
It depends on why the person is a vegetarian. It can be for spiritual, economical, physical, and so on.
A vegetarian and vegan have different view points on this subject. A vegan doesn't eat or partake of any byproducts of any animal or fish, for any number of reasons. Not all vegetarians eat the same foods, some eat dairy, no eggs, some eggs no dairy, but basically don't want to eat flesh. They may or may not use animal skins, their choice. Vegans(that's me) choose not to eat, drink, or use any part of an animal live, or dead for many different reasons, but a vegan (no exceptions) if they are calling them self vegan, never uses leather. vegetarian yes. vegan no! Hope this clarifies why so many people think vegetarians are Hippocrates, when really it is vegans only who choose this way of life.
a vegetarian can do whatever they want. some choose not to buy or wear leather and fur proucts because they feel it is perpetuating the killing and/or abuse of animals. it's pretty basic really.
I think that is up to the person, Just because you don't eat meat and use animal product do not make them a Hippocrates. Some people don't eat meat because they just do not like it, some for health reason.e.t.c.
