When I was younger around 9 or 10, I witnessed my uncle drowning kittens, skinning rabbits etc... From a young age I grew to love all animals big and small. The mad cow disease outbreak in the UK sealed it for me. I decided when I was 15 that I did not like the way animals raised for consumption were treated. So I became a vegetarian. I am now 27.
People who think vegetarians or vegans have chips on their shoulders are completely wrong. I couldn't give a rats patooty what anyone else eats. As long as I do not eat meat or meat by products I am very happy. I am married to a meat eater and he even realises how healthy my vegetarian meals are.
religion
I eat red meat but would like to turn to vegan living. I just don't like eating something that's had a face on it. As an avid animal lover (I have five dogs that sleep with me every night!), I hate to consume the meat of a beautiful animal.
the peice of meat would get up and dance scared the **** out of me
I love meat the smell the taste nothing like the protien, taste of a primerib medium well or a nice jucy hamburger...not much into twigs and nuts
Just because plants don't have a face doesn't mean they want to die to feed us. Just because they don't have lungs or a voice box doesn't mean that they don't scream out in pain when they are cooked or eaten. When grapes get crushed they let out a little wine. Think about that.
i had lived without meat on and off for years before but i read a book "ethics of what we eat" by peter singer and by the end of the first chapter i had given up meat for good.. (no i am not a hippie)..
it had things like that we are one of the only species that CHOOSES to eat other animals.. we have a choice.. and also the horrible way animals and raised and then killed for us to eat..
it was easy to give up except what do you eat when you are hung over and vegetarian?!? i might ask YA!
I never eat fruit and vegtable, and my health was no good, so i say forget this, I can't eat mcdomald's and wendys and bk everyday, I need to fix myself, I cut out all meat, and started eating bread and corn chips, then veggs, the fruits, now I luv veggs and fruits, I mean what the hell was I smoking when I don't like veggs? crazy, I got my health back, and then realise I'm saving animal in the same time, so I started caring for animals and others, being a vegg saved me
I just didn't want to support animal cruelty. I turned veggie 15 years ago and haven't looked back.
Cos, vegetarian hangover cures are plentiful! Since I turned veggie at age 9 i've never know a hangover with meat, but i find that- unless you're vegan- fried eggs, chips, hashbrowns, milkshakes (proper ones, ice cream and milk blended, not the crap ones you can buy ready made in the supermarket), and (best of all) chinese chow mein with tofu and veggies all do the trick pretty well!
Well I actually have a couple. Firstly I dont really like meat all that much, it had become bland and something that I ate just to stay healthy. Secondly I dont agree with killing another animal just so I can survive. Thirdly I dont agree with the way the factory farms work, and the animal cruelty that is always involved with them. And fourthly I dont believe that humans need to eat meat. I have read quite a lot of research on the subject and have concluded that humans were not meant to be meat eaters. For example we dont have pointy teeth, and our bowls are too long.
So those are my reasons. If you want to check out a really informative site go to www.veggie123.com. There is a free ebook there that is great. Enjoy!
My reason for being vegetarian is simple, compassion for fellow living creatures. I came across this website, www.meetyourmeat.com and it instantly changed my life.
moral reasons was the main factor. we as humans should be above eating animals. also, horrible meat industry conditions for both animals and workers, as well as health reasons.
I switched to being vegetarian (and later became a vegan) because of my dog's death. He was run over by a golf cart when he was only 5 months old and I watched him die in front of me. Seeing the look in his eyes and the amount of pain that he was in made me never want to be the reason for this to happen to any animal ever again. I made myself promise that I would never eat meat or any animal product ever again because each time an animal dies it goes through what my puppy did. Eating meat just isn't worth it for me.
