I take a piece of bread (whatever your favorite is) and put it in the toaster or toaster oven untill toasted, I take a little butter on one side, on top of the butter put some shredded mozzarella or cheddar, I really like both and then in a toaster oven just put it back in on broil till the cheese melts or under a regular broiler (you can also microwave it untill the cheese melts but I dont like it that way as much but it does work (if you have a little garlic around mix it with the butter, also a little black pepper with the cheese is very good but that is just how I like mine)

Slice some cheese, toast one side of a piece of bread under the grill, then turn the bread over, lay the cheese on top and a couple of slices of Tomato and then replace under the grill, melting the cheese and cooking the tomato.

Grill is the British term for "broil".

I make the toast in a toaster and then butter it while it is still warm, put a slice of cheese on top and then put it under the broiler for less than a minute...just long enough to get the cheese to melt into the bread.

YUM!

Take slices of cheddar and put them on Russian or Jewish rye. Broil them until melted. Dunk in tomato soup. If you want a little spice add Tabasco or cracked black pepper to the soup.

Simply toast your bread
when ready put a light smear of mustard on the toast and allow to soak in
Add your cheese pop under the grill and a little later great cheese on toast

Take a slice of bread and butter one side. Put a frying pan on the cooker and put the slice into the frying pan, as it starts to fry put the slices of cheese on top and then put another buttered slice of bread on top (butter-side outwards). Then you can turn them regularly until the cheese has melted and the toast is golden brown.

Trust me, once you cook it like this, you'll never go back!

White bread, put under the grill and toast on one side only. When the bread is toasted as dark as you like it, take it out, and turn it over. Cover the untoasted side with grated cheese (mature cheddar is the best), sprinkle with cheese with pepper and put back under the grill. Toast til the cheese is brown and bubbling.

First toast one side of the bread- in the grill not the toaster! Turn it over and cover with thinly sliced onion and tomato (both optional), then cover with cheese right to the edges, make it even or it won't melt evenly. Then simply place under the grill until bubbling and golden. Enjoy!

Don't forget the brown sauce!

Toast a multi-grain or rye bagel. . .
spread cream cheese on top,
sprinkle with Feta-chunks (tomato-basil flavor if avalaible). . .
add slices of peppers (green and/or red). . .
Enjoy as a sandwich or open-faced. : )

Try this one, toast your bread spread it with butter and a little Marmite, lay thin slices of onion and tomato then cover with cheese and grill until melted and brownish.

Lightly toast the bread so it won't go soggy when the cheese starts to melt. Now place a great heap of grated cheese on top - grated cheese is best because it goes lovely and crusty on top and still gooey in the middle. Place under a hot grill for about four minutes to soften all the cheese, then put the grill up higher for one minute to make a nice golden crust on top.
Remove from the grill, splosh a couple of drops of Worcestershire sauce (ESSENTIAL!!!) on top - this sauce is what makes ordinary cheese on toast just magical!
Eat. Enjoy.
And, because it was so scrumptious, make another and eat that as well!!

Put two e ggs in a microwave-proof jug. Whisk together. Add as much grated cheese(lancashire is best for cooking) as you want to taste. Microwave for 30 seconds(700) then whisk again. Microwave for further l minute. If not cooked to your satisfaction- whisk again and cook at 30 second intervals until you are satisfied. Enjoy!

A question for the ages...

But. I like a nice crusty white bread with big 'holes' in it -- more for the cheese to sink in to. Toast it a bit first before cheesing.

Grate your cheese, don't slice it, and old cheddar is probably the best.

Brown everything just so -- I have an oven with no window at the moment, and, oh, the heartache...

Possible additions:
Vidalia onion slices
plum tomato slices (last minute; boiling-hot tomato is no fun to eat)
mustard
mushrooms
garlic

A good rarebit has its place, too.

By eating cheese you are contributing to the torture of innocent cows!! Baaaaaaaasssssstard!

Put a massive dollop of Marmite on the untoasted side, then sprinkle on 2 types of grated cheese in copious amounts.

Cheese on toast is a personal favourite of mine.
There are many ways to get the best from your toast and adding cheese is just one of the many ways.
However which everway you go its about the quality of the cheese. Good farmhouse chedar is the way forward.

Good aditions to the toast and cheese:
Chilli Jelly/jam - sweet chilli sauce
Onions
Lots of black pepper
Mayo
Paprika
Cayenne pepper

And of course a lovely large mug of tea to wash it down with.
