Relief from Gas while eating Vegetarian Meals....?!
Relief from Gas while eating Vegetarian Meals....?
I've been eating more veggie meals lately and have noticed alot more gas in my stomach.... Its become a problem as my "farting"
has escalated..... I am trying to find some relief naturally, does
"Beano" work?....is there another natural product or herb that
can help here?....I am not joking here, this is a serious question
as I realize it might sound funny...any help would be appreciated!!
Answers:
Beano works.
It's hard to find in most areas but the herb Epazote makes a huge difference in the gas level of beans etc.
And as the micro-flora in your body adjusts to higher levels of fiber etc. your gasiness will decrease-usually takes about 2 months.
Edit:
Hi Kitkat, glad to see you're still around
In any event it appears that the liquid is *still* safe for all vegheads! I didn't know that a tablet form was available now and there is conflicting statements on the ingredients

Beano before and there will Beano gas lol I don't know if it works but the commercial is catchy isn't it and gas is good better to come out then stay in trust me I'm a doctor not really but I do work in the hospital
look at vitamin b1, b2 and b3 which help you digest carbohydrates (of which vegetarian food is often high in) and check out swedish bitters which is a herbal blend designed to get your stomach and digestive system producing more digestive enzymes to break down your food completely. Gas is basically caused by partially digested food that sits in the gut and ferments causing gas. Take swedish bitters liquid before or with each meal. If you can't find them, the herb Gentian may do it.
Eat a bit of plain yogurt each day. Also, if you're cooking with beans that were dry, soak them overnight and this will eliminate the gas. Don't cook them in salt until already soft, or they'll remain hard as a rock.
i have the exact same problem (mainly with vegie burgers...whoa, that a stinky ride home!). one lady told me just to eat yougurt (but, if your like me and yougurt gives you diearhea then that's a no no). i've tried beano before and it worked magic! try it, it really works.
From what I understand, Beano is not vegetarian friendly. It has gelatin in it. Regardless of that, if your system was not used to the amount of veggies we are supposed to have anyway in the first place, it will take a little time to get used to but the gas issue should reduce.

Folk remedies I hope this helps
just stopping the foods that cause the condition would save you the cost of 'beano'
Most foods that contain carbohydrates can cause gas. By contrast, fats and proteins cause little gas. Many common foods contain raffinose and stachyose that can lead to gas. Most starches, including potatoes, corn, noodles, and wheat, produce gas as they are broken down in the large intestine. Rice is the only starch that does not cause gas.
cabbage is bad as well
