If I cook with nutritional yeast, will it maintain its nutritional value?!

Question:

If I cook with nutritional yeast, will it maintain its nutritional value?

I am vegan and looking to obtain daily B12 via nutritional yeast. Can I boil it with my morning oatmeal and still have it be effective?

Also, I have heard that no nutritional yeast is without animal properties. Is this true?

Answers:
NT is not animal derived at all and it most definitely is yeast!

When you cook with it *some* of the vitamins will break down but you're still going to dramatically increase the nutrition value of your oatmeal. Instead of boiling it with your oatmeal why not just stir it in once the oatmeal is done? Less cooking of the NT should preserve more of it's vitamins.

Nutritional yeast is not really a yeast...its made for cooking, as for animal properties it is definitey not animal.
