I'm a vegetarian. Well....where did it start. i have always been an animal lover. when i was about 7 my older sister was watching Nick News and it had somthing about vegetariansim. i didn't really understand it (i was only 7 for goodness sakes). i anouced to momma i wasn't going to eat meat anymore but guess what? i caved in when grandma cooked bacon. (once agian...i was just 7 yrs old). when i hit 6th grade i was looking through a Girls Life magizne and it had one of PETA's "We Are Not Nugget" posters in it along with a few facts on it. then, i had no clue what or who PETA was, all i knew was that the chicks on the poster were adorable and i felt horrible inside about eating them. so, once agian, i tried to drop meat. i didn't anounce it like i did when i was 7 but i didn't eat any meat for 2 weeks....but then momma made her green pepper stuffing one night (beef)..........i caved.......again. i'm now in the 8th grade and a girl at my school who is a vegetarian, but she moved, told me about PETA. (i didn't realize that the poster i found was from PETA until i was browsing some of their stuff and found it). i watched most of PETA's videos. that was enough for me. yeah, PETA people are a bit extreme but they get the point across....expesaly Violet...whoa, that girl can protest!!! but anyway, i went to other websites besides PETA to educate myself. i spent HOURS on the computer and looking in encyclopideas aobut vegetariansim and vegansim.also, my bff has pigs and i saw her dad slaughter one right in their back yard....that righ there was enough. i've now fully educated myself on the matter, anounced that i am dropping meat (for the 3rd time) and my momma is actually supporting me! i havn't tasted meat for 2 months, and hopefully 2007 will be meat free for me and full of educating others about factory farming and vegetariansim. PETA, vegetarian/vegan websites, encyclopidea's, and my meat eating friends (who support me....well...some do)/family is what compelles me.

Vegetarians are healthier people who want to live longer and healthier lives.
"Studies" have proved that vegetarians are intelligent people but I am not a total vegetarian. I have been vegetarian sometimes (for a year or so) but I can not stop eating non-veg because I don't have a lot of choices. What compelled me to be a vegetarian was my mom's story, she is a vegetarian because she heard a hen crying while it was being cut. Hope you don't stop eating non-veg.
I am, and nothing compelLs me, but what compels me is that I don't like the feel of meat in my mouth, and in my throat it makes me want to gag. Then I think of the hopeless life the animals have, it's ridiculous.
And then they make a big fuss when a human gets shot while hunting, but nobody says anything when they shoot an animal. Give me a break.

Someone who has decided not to eat any meat products at all and just eat fruits and vegtables. Why I would say is that they have their own reasons, but what I know is that I could never be one.
I became a vegetarian right after my Grandma died.
I was 11 and I didnt like the fact that I was eating an animal.
When my mother was pregnant with me, she would get sick every time she was around meat and craved salad her whole pregnancy!

I am a vegetarian and meat is murder.
I am...and, one reason is because i dont like eating a dead corpse...(hey go laugh),...but, really you are eating a dead corpse if you eat meat...and, i dont see how that can be good for you...smother it with sauce etc...but it is what it is...
and, you can directly give yourself a disease as cancer from a animal, as animals are fed hormones and get cancers from the hormones...the cell is still active...

I'm a vegetarian because I don't like the idea of eating dead animals, my religion, and it just feels like the right thing for me to do. There's plenty of vegetables, fruit, grains, nuts, etc. for me to eat so I don't see any reason why I should eat meat. It's not like I'm dying of starvation or anything like that.
When I heard that some of the most longest living humans were from tribes that were vegetarian, it had some impact on me. Also, we SHARE this planet with animals and all living things. It is not in our nature to eat meat if you look at our physiological making. Animals have teeth for tearing flesh...we have teeth for mashing plants and foods that come from the earth. Being vegetarian has very beneficial health effects as we tend to live 7 years longer than meat eaters.
I am a vegetarian because one day I came across a book on the effects of eating meat and what what would happen to your body if you continually ate it. When I read that book I was horrified at the effects of eating it. I then decided to stop eating meat.
I find killing animals for our diet so cruel when there are so many other alternatives people dont recognise animals rights these poor creatures are a life and it should be recognised
I am, and have been for 4 years. My cholesterol is down, I'm now a healthy weight, have more energy and have had fewer illnesses. My doc said that my blood work is much better than when I was a meat eater, as well.

I figured out I couldn't digest animal protein anymore...(got so sick)... now I can't smell it or look at it.
As I was going through being ill every time I ate I researched vegetarianism... an obvious lifestyle change for me... I feel so much better.
There are so many choices and wonderful, varied cuisines and recipes.... I'm never bored, or deprived.
What compels me most is knowing the animals...
Plus, as I read up on being veggie I became so informed on the how the animals were pumped full of growth hormones, antibiotics & other meds AND the inhumane farming practices, lack of hygeine in meat processing and how unhealthy meat really is for people on a regular basis.
I love animals, I don't want to eat them anymore... it's just so nasty when you really think about the critter living it's life, then it gets killed in what ever horrible manner, it gets skinned or plucked, cut up, heated/cooked, presented on a platter and then chewed up and swallowed.... doesn't appeal to me.
That's my story.
I am a 47 year old woman who became a vegetarian 2 years ago. Now I try to adhere to a vegan diet, which means that I don't eat meat or by-products, such as eggs or milk. Initially, I made the choice for ethical, moral, and spiritual reasons. Over time, I have discovered a deep pleasure in living without exploiting other sentient beings, not to mention being thin. Someday our society's wholesale exploitation of animals for our own convenience, fun, and profit will be regarded as a shameful curiosity of the past.

Meat takes very long and is harder for your body to digest. Also, I was never really a fan of the taste. Oh-and there's the main fact that everytime you eat meat you are eating that animal's soul. My soul is enough to handle let alone someone else's. Blessed Be!

Animal cruelty turns my stomach so I can't eat meat even if I wanted to. I do eat meat if I know for sure that it came from a farm that treats it's animals fairly. It may sound cheesy and stupid, but people get upset over someone beating a dog or a cat, why shouldn't the same go fo cows and pigs and chickens?
