Vegetarian.

Good answer.

Nut cutletts, do you mean?

I don't know but then I don't know why Bacon flavour crisps are suitable for vegetarians yet cheese and onion ones aren't.

Why do vegetarians have incisors?

thats true

most vegetarians have eaten meat at one point in their lives or another, it looks way better than anything else they can make with their nasty tofu crap.
i have no idea how anyone can actually like the taste of tofu. although mind you, the dessert tofu isnt that bad when its made in a cake or something.

umm.. maybe cuz they noe that meat tastes the best..but they cant eat it..and they wanna eat something that tastes like it so badly
too bad they cant eat KFC

i was raised on meat and every once in a while i'll crave a hamburger or somthing. so having somthing that looks and taste like it..but isn't one...sooths the cravings.

One reason is that it's another way to get protein in their diets without having to combine foods to get a complete protein. Besides a lot of these vegetarian meat patties are pretty good. I eat them myself and I'm not a complete vegetarian yet, but am working towards it. Morningstar Farm products and Gardenburger products are good substitutes for protein. There are better ways to keep protein in your diet without using these substitutes without eating meat. It's just another way to spice up a vegetarian diet, that's all.

You talk poo, but I doubt that you eat it, oh hang on a minute you do !!!

I'm not a vegetarian coz i hate the taste of veggies but how i wish i could have all the vitamins and minerals of veggies by eating meat only ;)

They sure aint right most of them veggies, why don't they make stuff shaped like turnips or sprouts instead of burgers or sausages. As I said, sure aint right. Probably due to the lack of protein.

Hello,

Answer is because LOTS of people ate meat before they ever became vegetarian. I grew up with meat in my family but quickly became vegetarian when I had the choice to cook my own food. After I left home and had to cook for myself.

**Eating habits or patterns of eating are laid down when we are very small, in the first few years of life, and within our family environment.

If your eating habits included alot of meat then giving up meat seems odd at first until you get used to it, & some people like the fact that they can still eat foods like Quarn for example that is meat like in texture only but hasnt involved killing anything to create it. Its a double win, it filled the need for something meat like but doesnt compromise any ethical principals involved.

**Most genuine vegetarians DONT want foods that LOOK like meat at all, that's a complete myth & utterly untrue. I personally have no desire for foods that look anything like meat.

I've been a vegan (for 1year) & a vegetarian (20years), now a wheat free vegetarian (7years), I've been meat free for well over 27years and would never ever want to go back to meat eating. I feel completely comfortable morally, ethically, spritually and health wise too being meat free.

NOP! meat still involves killing no matter what anyone else says, I dont want to be a part of that system of inflicting pain & suffering if I can avoid it. I've chosen to avoid doing that, there's enough suffering without me adding to it.

Many of us have enjoyed meat, or products containing meat, before we went veg. That would be those of us who are veg for animal rights purposes, and we might miss the taste of one meat or another. I know that I also eat fake meat for the convenience and so that I can eat what those around me are eating- they eat pot pies, I can eat Amy's non-dairy ones! They eat burgers...

so then we dont feel weird at the dinner table. but not all of us eat fake meat.

Nothing wrong with the flavor of meat; it's the carnage that I hate. So bring on the substitutes.

because they had been conditioned to eat meat before, so they still got taste for it, they know the taste of it, besides the taste to eat the body of an inoffensive , tortured animal, had disappeared.

food that looks like meat
taste like meat
but doesn't kill any animals

Looks like a good idea to me. I am not vegetarian, but this makes sense to me!

people ask this question way too often. vegheads make food that look/taste like meat because they like the taste, they just dont like the fact that its a dead animal's flesh. plus its healthier than real meat.

because vegetarians eat meat supplements for protein and for when we cracve meat yes sometimes i do crave meat so i eat meat supplements for when i crave hamburgers, chicken nuggets ete.

Personally I don't - it reminds me too much of dead animal. But there are people who love the taste of meat and miss is but believe that it is morally wrong to eat meat, so the meat substitutes are good for them. I never really liked it that much in the first place. The only thing I miss is liquorice allsorts (they have gelatine in) and the vegan version don't have any bobbly blue and pink ones. BOO HOO.
