Is consuming food potassium (banana's) bad and why???
Is eating around 5 bananas per day bad for the body??
Answers:
Both too little potassium and too much potassium are bad for your health. Here is a very good article explaining the benefits of potassium and the affects of potassium deficiency and too much potassium. For an adult male, they recommend 4700 mg of potassium a day. A banana has 467 mg. So if you ate 5 a day, you have consumed 2335 mg. However, remember that potassium is found in other foods as well, such as oranges, raisins, etc. The only way to know if you have too little or too much potassium in your body is to have a blood test.

no
Potassium is a needed nutrient for your body. Just like any other nutrient, you can over do it. If you consume to much pottasium, your throat will start to swell shut. Cut down to one banana a day and eat other fruits instead.
Well- the excess potassium should leave the body via the urine- but bananas tend to plug people up!! as in constipating- no fun- so you should be fine- and maybe plugged up!! Potatoes have potassium too- and other minerals in the skin-D
Healthiest energy supply for the hot climates.Keeps you from losing your energy and overheating.A must in the desert.
No eating bananas is not bad, not even when eating 5 a day. Potassium from bananas helps your body to make energy in a cycle that happens in every cell of your body called the sodium potassium pump that allows your cells to contract and relax. If you have a bad cramp and eat a banana the cramp will relax because of the potassium. Also banana's contain many other good vitamins and nutrients such as vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B6. It also gives you a good source of fiber. As long as you don't eat too many (like 16) then its fine and actually really good for you.
There is no way you can consume too much potassium from normal food. Now if you were to eat a few tablespoons of potassium chloride that would be very bad for you.
That may be excessive
I've noticed when I have too much potassium, my body retains water just as if I had too much sodium. Last night I drank an entire quart of orange juice and felt a little bloated and uncomfortable as a result.
Drink plenty of regular water and maintain a sodium / potassium balance.
