Question: A jacket potato: 50 minutes in an electric oven at 200!? What is your perfect Jacket potato cooking method!?
Answers:
In these days of high electricity costs I cut down the cooking time in a very simple way!.
I use a very clean 6inch + nail and press the point into the potato so that about an inch sticks out!. This transfers heat into the middle of the potato very quickly so that it cooks evenly in almost half the time!. Outside is still nice and crisp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

microwave for about 10 minutes- depending on the size (this is for a 250ish gram potato), just to soften it throughout, then flash cook in an oven for about 5 minutes on a very high temperature to crisp it on the outside,

I used to have them when I was much younger and wasnt scared of the calories- I used to put a slab of butter in them before putting them in the oven as it would make them softer and on the skin where the butter had been, would make it crunchier!.

Those were the days !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I do mine in the microwave for 4minutes to heat it up !. Then place in the oven Gas mark 5 or 6!. coat potato with a bit of olive oil and season with rock salt or normal salt!. Wrap in tin foil for 25 minutes , when time is up open the wrapper and let it go crisp for the remainder of cooking time!.Heating potato in microwave first helps to cut the cooking time down in the oven!. It should take about 35 -45 minutes all depending on the size of the potato!.
