Good food for a British picnic?!

Question: Good food for a British picnic!?
Me and my friends are going for a picnic on Friday (27th June)
and I'm just wondering what are the best foods for it!. It'll be about 8 o'clock at night when we eat, and most probably on the floor so we don't want things that are gonna be messy and attract nasty bugs!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The best picnics I can remember have revolved around a good collection of bottles of champagne that are not really champagne, ie Spanish Kava, Australian fizzy, French Creme etc!. These are served at the same time as a large board (drawing board is great) on which you place a very diverse selection of cheeses!. A box of crackers, oatcakes, digestives etc!. Everyone has a knife!. The fun is comparing and contrasting all the different "champagnes" and the cheeses!. As you all have a bite and a sip of each others selection, things get very jolly!. The cheese should be left out of refridgeration for a day to produce its best taste!.
My last such picnic was on the lawns at Kenwood House
on Hampstead Heath with the BBC Symphony Orchestra
playing in the background!.

Make yourself some home-made scotch eggs!. Much better than shop-bought ones and perfect for picnics as they are self-contained and great finger food!.
