The never-ending Great Marmite Debate. Where do you stand on this ?!

Question: The never-ending Great Marmite Debate!. Where do you stand on this !?
Hi,
1st off, I cannot abide the muck, it is left-overs from the brewing industry, the sludge at the bottom!.

I dare say it is a healthy product, being yeast sludge, which does no harm, but in many an opinion it is vile tasting!.

Now, to all Marmite / Vegimite lovers, I wish no offense, but who is in the majority here !?

A sure cure for hiccups is a teaspoonful of malt vinegar, but on advising a mate of this, he asked for vinegar at the local pub!.
It turned out to be brewers yeast vinegar, so was promplty sick!.

A current vote on this would be interesting!.

Cheers,

This is a tricky one because Marmite varies from country to country - I loveloveLOVE the one sold in NZ and Australia, partly because I grew up on Vegemite (which I also love) but it was always a bit different having Marmite at friends' houses so I think I still think of it as a bit of a treat (like having full-cream milk cos our mum always bought skimmed)!. So: Vegemite in all countries is the same, and is always excellent!. Marmite in Australia/NZ is I think adjusted to the local market and is even better than Vegemite, BUT over here (Ireland) I can only get the British Marmite which is purely rank!. It's just a bit more watery and less sweet and the texture is all wrong!. So I have to buy Vegemite at (of all places) the health shop!. Go figure!.

(Mmmm might pop out to the kitchen and get me a fingerful of Vegemite right now - I can feel Vitamin B deficiency kicking in since this morning's toast!.!.!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Marmite is the best and that has to be British Marmite, I kid you not there are different strengths of it around the world!. The British one being the strongest AFAIK!. The Australian one being the weirdest (weak and has added sugar)!.

Vegimite is just sick stuff for them upside down people, you know the ex convicts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is a knack to using marmite!. You only need to spread it very very thinly!. I'm not surprised people hate it when they spread it on their toast like butter!. It really is disgusting then, but I love it on toast and there are not many days that I go without it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It should be a banned substance!. It is more revolting than breathing in others' cigarette smoke and we have banned that in public places!. In fact, it does look like that tar substance that collects in the bottom of ashtrays!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I hate the stuff but funnily enough my dad always put a teaspoon of marmite in homemade gravy-you cant taste it but it definately adds body!! I also now add it to spag bol or meat stew-delicious-but NEVER on toast, eugh!Www@FoodAQ@Com
