With the rise in food prices, will the American overweight epidemic decline?!

Question: With the rise in food prices, will the American overweight epidemic decline!?
One factor that is always sited about obesity is that food portions have increased from what they used to be in the 70's and 80's!. Now that shoppers and restaurants are cutting back on how much food they use to save money, will obesity rates decline as well!?

I've read several articles lately about restaurants using smaller portions than they used to as an attempt to compat high food prices in 2008!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well the say that people are not tipping anymore!.!.!.!. so eventually people will either eat less or lose there houses lol :D

but ya I think the food price increases should make us a whole think about growing our own food!.!.!.!.

imagine if there was a natural catastrophe in the heart land of farming!.!.!.!. where would we get out food!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

That would be great! However the cheapest foods are usually the unhealthiest!. Organic food is very expensive and the prices of fruits and vegetables are sky rocketing; however the dollar menu at Mcdonald's remains as well as the bulk candy bags for only a dollar or 2!. I don't believe that the obesity will decline unless people and restaurants make a great effort to better their eating habits!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

More than likely not!. Over eating is an addiction and just like other addictions (drugs, sex, whatever) the person will always find a way around it!. They will probably just order more plates or go somewhere else afterwards!. Even if the price of food goes really high, ppl who over eat will find a way to get more money to keep buying into their addiction!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

while prices have increased, people dislike change, and therefore they are not going to want to stop eating what they eat and much less want to eat healthy!. And healthy foods tend to be more pricey!. I doubt that the increase prices will make any real impact in the US!. It is harder for people already starving in other countries!.

Interesting question though!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Healthy food is almost always more expensive than grabbing convenience foods (Chef-boy-Ardee) or junk foods (chips, coke) or fast foods (Taco Bell bean burrito)!. I don't think the rise in food costs will have any impact on the American obesity rates!. JMO, of course :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I doubt it!.!.!. the changes in portion will probably not have a huge effect on most people!. And with the increases in price, a lot of people may opt for fast food and other cheap options like Chinese food, which have the same portion sizes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It will probably get worse!. Fresh produce and meat/fish cost more to buy than starches like rice, beans and pasta!. So, people will eat more of the cheaper, yet fattening, foods at home!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

of course not!.
they'll just order appetizer and dessert!.

soda, chips and other junk food are always cheap!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, i think it will only get worse!. Welcome to the dumbing of AmericaWww@FoodAQ@Com

no! did prohibition stop people from drinking!?food can be a drug!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
