Price of theatre popcorn?!

To add insult to injury, it isn't even real butter!. It's butter-flavored oil ;(
And there is a reason why that, and everything else, is so dang expensive at a movie theater!. The movie industry treats it like its own dirty little secret: movie theaters don't make any money on the movie tickets; their only source of money is the stuff at the concession stands!.
That's right--once a movie theater company agrees to show a movie in their theaters, they don't make money on the tickets!. They don't make a penny on that stupid $7!.50-and-rising movie ticket!. The only money they make is on the foods they sell and any other money they can get out of you while you are on their premises (personally, I am waiting for the pay toilets!.!.!.)!. So, they jack up the prices on everything, gambling that you will pay the same amount or more for treats that you did for the tickets in the first place, to help them put some money to their bottom line!.
I personally feel no pity for them!. That's why the only thing I ever buy at a movie theater is a soda!. I figure they can have the $3!.50 for a large drink from me, but everything else is smuggled in deep inside my roomy purse! And as soon as I can figure out how to smuggle a fountain soda (I like 'em better than either bottles or cans, which is I why I will pay for one) in inside my purse, they're losing that business, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I actually found out from a friend that Movie theatres make only 10% to 20% of their profit from the actual movie!. The other 80% comes from the concession stand!. I am not positive this number is 100% accurate, but given the fact that theatres aren't given movies (they have to pay for them in advance), and that they have their share of dud movies, it kinda makes sense!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I completely agree that popcorn and other snacks is absolutely outrageous in price!. First, you have to pay expensive amounts for the tickets, then you have to buy popcorn, and pop!. I can only imagine buying several kids each popcorn!. I think it is better to get Netflix and make a theatre night at your house!. Much cheaper!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
the price of corn has gone up resulting in more farmers making corn!. the butter used is part of cocoa butter so those prices have also gone up

I've read that the theater makes almost no money from the tickets!. Almost everything you pay for the tickets goes to the company that made the movie!. The theater makes its money from the sales of the popcorn, candy, and soda!. They only show the movie to get you to come and buy the food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Depends on what theatre!. There are some $1 ticket theatres that have rather cheap food!. But in regular theatres popcorn goes up to almost $7 for just a large one!. A large combo with popcorn and large drink in my local theatre is $10!.75!

That is why you see the women bring in big purses to stuff them candy, soda, and water bottles!. The price of food at the movies is just outrageous! It's not like we don't spend enough on the ticket along but then they have to stick up with high prices on the concession stand!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The theatres lost customers when cable, Netflix, downloaded movies, etc!. became so popular!. A lot of multiplexes upgraded their theatres with new seating, etc!. This one-two punch led to an increase in the cost of tickets, popcorn, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
