What is the difference between eating raw veggies and eating steamed or cooked veggies?!
Do the nutrient or mineral levels go down when you cook them!? Is eating cooked veggies pretty much equivalent to eating raw veggies!?
I am bringing this up because it seems like all the nutritionists I see on tv say to eat raw veggies but they don't explain why you can't cook or steam them!.!.!.I don't even hear them say you can't but if they didn't want you to cook them then they wouldn't bother saying "Eat raw veggies" and would just say "Eat veggies"!.
Any thoughts!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The problem with cooking (in water) is that much of the nutrients leach into the water which is almost always thrown out!. Along with this, many vitamins are destroyed by heat!.
Steaming is better for you because not as many nutrients are lost, but the heat still destroys some of the vitamins!. This usually doesn't effect minerals though!.
With raw vegetables you get all the nutrients!.
However, as was already mentioned, the important thing is to get plenty of vegetables in your diet!. If eating them cooked helps you eat more, then go for it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
