Question: What are some typical favorite fall foods of Austria?
i'm doing a report on Austria and i need to know the fall favorites when it comes to food in Austria.


Pumpkin is very popular -- roasted, made into soups, etc. Pumpkin seed oil is delicious. Leberkese is a kind of meatloaf that's popular with potatoes roti or on a sandwich. Knudel (dumpling or noodles) is a very common side dish. Tafelspitz is popular, too. As the grapes ripen, heurigen (heuriger is singluar) are hopping. It's a wine tavern that serves its own wine plus local foods usually.

Schnitzels....thinly pounded meat usually veal or chicken, breaded and pan fried.
