Answers: I make the best ribs and never ever par boil ribs. Season them to your liking. Soak 2 cups wood chips in water for about an hour. Place them over the grayed charcoals. Immediately put the ribs on the rack, cover and let smoke for 2 hrs. The meat will absorb the smoke immediately. Check them about once every 20 minutes. My ribs are always juicy and nicely smoked. Who wants watered down ribs. Besides the boil takes away some of the flavor. Practice, practice and eventually you will make the perfect ribs. After they are done, wrap them in loosely closed aluminum foil. You can also baste them in a good bbq sauce before removing them from the fire.
If you don't want to finish cooking them on the grill, you can remove them after they have absorbed the smoke, place in aluminum foil and finish in the oven. During the last 15 minutes, open the foil and let them dry a little bit so they aren't full of moisture. Source(s):
My brain:) Maybe the pig doesnt have any ribs to spare. Yeah, you boil them for 20 minutes to destroy connective tissue and cook the ribs. Then you cook them on the grill, basting with sauce. i would cook on low heat on the grill
and then once the rib is 160degrees add the barbque sauce and then crisp the sauce and enjoy! It depends on what kind of ribs they are ... if there is 'a lot of meat' and they're 'short' you can 'marinate them' and cook them on the grill. If they're the 'long ribs' with just a little bit of meat on them, it's best to BOIL THEM first so that they're 'cooked' and then grill them' once the meat is 'tender' ... because the meat 'closest to the bone' is TOUGHER than the meat 1/2 in from the bone ... so it actually needs MORE COOKING than the 'thicker, fatter meat' ribs do. Most die hard bbqers will say to never start inside and then move out, but if it tastes good, who cares. you can start your ribs in a large pot or better yet a large deep baking pan. Cook them on the stove until they are tender then throw them on the grill with sauce. Its hard to grill ribs to the point of being tender w/o cooking them first on the stove. Let her boil them first and then throw them on the grill to get that grill taste and if you like add BBQ sauce. Do not boil these ribs. It makes them tough in my experience. Enjoy I think your wife may be right. If you totally cook them on the grill , they take awhile and the sauce you will probably coat them with will burn and dry up. If you cook them for awhile in the oven you don't have to grill them that long and the sauce won't burn. boil then grill I have found the best way is to just put them on the grill with a low heat. Slower is beater!! The best way is with a smoker (about $40) but a grill will work just as good. Do not cook them on the stove or oven first.
