Hosting a house party?!

Question: Hosting a house party!?
Hey
Okay so my mom is going out of town for two days, I'm thinking of having a halloween party (yeah i know not for a while but i gotta make sure it goes off w/o a hitch)

few things
1!. how much do i tell her!? im having a couple of friends over to watch a movie cuz im lonely, lol!. she'll prolly call to check in!. also, my step dad (who wont care, but might tell her) might be hanging out in the basement!. should i try and convince him to join her for a couple of days away!? or just tell him!?

2!. theme, invites, all this stuff!. it'll be around halloween!. i'll prolly say costumes are optional!. what are some good food ideas!? im thinking the regulars, loads of pizza, junk and pop!. what are some decorating ideas!?

3!. tips for a house party!? obv ive had them, but not this big and not secretly!.

4!. it'll prolly be around 35 people!. i'll tell people to let me know if they wanna invite somebody else!. and all of these people and i wont be drinking, so thats not a problem!. what do you think!?

6!. also, is it like, inappropriate or cheap to ask them to like, bring 5 bucks with them!? just because its not my bday so they're not giving me anything, and ill be paying a lot for this!. my friends say this is a fine idea, because im pretty close with all of these kids!.

let me know what you think please!

also, any tips for entertaining everybody if they get bored would be appreciated! im thinking of just opening the patio and the hottub, and having the big screen on and video games in another room!. we're between the ages of 16-18!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The worst part of hosting any party is the clean up!. If you have canned or bottled drinks the person getting another drink has to turn in their empty!. Believe me it makes a HUGE difference in the end!.
Finger foods are the best!. Chips, dips, pretzels, ranch and veggies etc!. I wouldn't get too complicated!. I'd go to Sam's club and get a premade platter just to save time!. Get a couple of trash cans and fill them with ice to put the sodas on!. Make sure everything is disposable!.
Go to the dollar store and buy table clothes and drape any flat surface that ANYONE can put a sweaty drink on!. It's easier to remove and disgard them at the end of the night rather than having to endust every surface to remove the evidence :)
A cover is a good idea as you mentioned you invited 35 which means 50 will come!. You need to have a back up plan in case you have to hire a carpet cleaner or something has to be replaced!.
When I was in HS I had parties all the time because my dad was always away on business or dates overnights!. I charged 20 bucks and believe me no body minded paying because my house was THE place to be on the weekend!. I always made enough money to have the place cleaned and keep my dirty deeds a secret!.
Have fun and be safe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
