What to wear to a party with a Sports Theme?!

Question: I've been invited to a party with a Sports Theme. The weather here has been very cold and wet...lots of rain. Even though the party will be indoors, it's still cold. Therefore, I'm not really interested in a Tennis outfit or Cheerleader outfit...or anything like that. Can't find my husband's old high school football jersey so that's out.

Any ideas on what kind of "sports outfit" I should wear? I don't really want to spend a lot of money at a costume shop or anything like that. If I could put something together at home...or get stuff at cheap stores like WalMart...that would be great.

Thanks for the advice.

Go as a mascot; not only will you be with the theme, it will be great if people don't really know its you in the costume

Poke around in thrift shops for team jerseys or team t-shirts and caps.

wear something glittery like the ones that figure skaters wear
i figure that if they can stand the cold in it then maybe you can too
besides it would be unique

don't you have any team logo Tshirts, sweatshirts or anything? wear that and just go as a spectator- get a foam finger or a funny hat to match your shirt- dress like you would if you were just going to watch the game! bead necklaces, paint your face, spray color in your hair, whatever you have around the house to accessorize with your team colors!
