Finger food suggestions...?!
my workplace is holding a fundraising dinner for the rspca!. we do not have the space to do a sit down dinner so we have decided on finger food!. however, we are limited to what equipment we have at work!. we do have a microwave and a bbq, but thats about it!. the food can be prepared at home, that is not a problem!.
i need foods that are: 1!. easy to prepare!. 2!. cheap to make - we have a very small budget!. 3!. if possible, can be served cold or heated on the bbq!.
i also need to know how far ahead of schedule i can make them, like if they need to be made on the day or if they can be done the day before!.
i have looked up some ideas on the internet, but im more interested in things that you have made and tried yourself!.
thank you in advance for all your answers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Salad finger food style!
Make up a chicken caesar salad without the leaves!. So rip up a cooked chicken, slice some spring onion into it, cook some bacon bits until crispy and add them, grated parmesan cheese, some cherry tomatos cut in quarters, maybe some avocado cubes etc!. Then mix it all up in a big bowl and add some caesar dressing to make it all stick!.
This can be made a day in advance!.
Then buy some Cos lettuce (or romaine or baby gems even) - the long leaves are firm and when broken off at the base, form a long thin bowl shape!. You don't want a floppy lettuce!. http://upload!.wikimedia!.org/wikipedia/co!.!.!.
Have these separated and chilling the day before!.
Then on the day, spoon some mixture into each leaf and top with grated parmesan, crumbled boiled egg and croutons (they'll go soggy if you add it to the chicken dressing mix)!. Then line them all up on a platter for people to help themselves!.
The idea is to pick a leaf up, wrap the sides in to help hold the mixture in and eat like a taco!.
This is always a huge hit at my parties and it's a great way to have your salad for finger food!. Always tricky!
You can also have the leaves empty and make up a few different mixes for people to put their own filling in!.
Greek salad, taboulei, cous cous etc!.
People help themselves and don't need to sit down, just have a serviette!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tacos!. If you have Tacos, you won't need anything else because everyone loves tacos, and they can make their own from the condiments that are provided!. The ground beef mix is so easy to make!. It can be cooked 1 day in advance and then heated in a crock pot the day of the event!. You will need the following ingredients:
Taco Seasoning Mix Packets (1 per pound of Ground Beef)
Ground Beef (depends on how many people you intend to serve)
Taco Shells (Hard and/or Soft)
Shredded Lettuce
Shredded Cheese
Taco Sauce
Red Hot Sauce
Sour Cream
Chopped Tomatoes
Black Sliced Olives
Creamy Cheese Whiz (warmed)
Bacon Bits
Directions for Spicy Ground Beef Mixture:
1) Brown the meat until crumbly, then DRAIN the fat!.
2) Mix the Taco Seasoning Mix with 2/3 cups of hot water
(per envelope), then add it to the cooked/drained ground
beef!.
3) Bring this mixture to a boil, reduce heat to low and
simmer uncovered, 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally!.
Bring the rest of the toppings in separate bowls for individuals to pick and choose to their taste buds!. Tada! Tacos are ready to serve!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
