How do I make gold coloured icing for a cake?!

Question:

How do I make gold coloured icing for a cake?

I would like to use just food colouring because i can't go out and buy luster dust (or whatever it's called) any one know what colours of food colour i should mix togethor to get the golden clolour?

Answers:
You can just use plain yellow food coloring with a tiny drop of red, but you will only be able to get a bright, bright, yellow gold color. You won't be able to get the metallic luster-y color without using the actual luster dust or buying the actual 'gold' food coloring from a cake / candy / baking supply shop.

try yellow with a tad of brown

Try using butter, i tried to make a white icing once and stupidly used butter to make it, it turned a lovely yellow though. Also add some orange juice to it. Mmmmm...It will be a lot nicer than food colouring too.

Print these charts and keep them with your recipes. Good luck on your cake!

Try using brown food coloring but just don't put too much in it and maybe add a touch of yellow if need be.
