Question: What is the most unappreciated food item and why!?
There are thousands of ingredients out there that go into all of our wonderful dishes, so I would love to hear your thoughts on what you think is one of the most important, under appreciated food items, in your opinion!. Thanks in advance for your interesting answers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say the most important ingredient people forget the value of is ordinary salt!. It is in almost everything we eat be it sweet or savory, it's not nearly as bad for you as people think so long as you don't drown your dishes in it (which, unfortunately many amateur cooks do) and it alone, naturally brings out flavor in anything it's added to actually making the food taste more like itself!.

Another I would say is celery just for its pure versatility and how healthy it is!. No other single plant provides us with a useful vegetable (stalk), herb (leaves, related to parsley), starch (root, can be cooked like mashed potatoes or french fries) and spice (seeds)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

tarragon!. The aroma is a bit like licorice but sweet and it adds so much to chicken, fish, pork, pasta dishes!. You never see it in an average pantry and folks are missing out!.

runner-up; the pomegranate!. A lot of work for a wonderful and colorful reward!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Baking Powder
Without it some recipes do not turn out right at all!. It is so under appreciated that some cooks think that they can substitute it with baking soda!. They learn really fast to appreciate baking powder!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

For me, it's rice!. I am gluten intolerant, so now almost every meal has rice in it somewhere!. I can do just about anything with rice; casseroles, fried foods, soups, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Salt!. It really brings out the tru flaors of everything from sweet to savory dishes!. And with out it everything is just blah, but in all fairness to much salt is just blah as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe lemons, because you wouldn't really eat them as they are but they can be used in sooo many recipes and can make a big difference to the taste : )Www@FoodAQ@Com
